Farm Manager Needed in Bureau County, Illinois

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Farm Manager to oversee operations on a 5,000-acre family-owned farm in Bureau County. This hands-on position requires expertise in row crop management, particularly corn, soybeans, and potatoes. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of working independently while managing seasonal staff during planting and harvest.

Key Responsibilities


  • Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of farm operations, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting diverse crops
  • Manage and maintain farm equipment and irrigation systems, including pivot irrigation
  • Supervise and train seasonal farm staff
  • Implement pest control and disease management strategies
  • Monitor crop health and market trends to optimize production and profitability
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety protocols
  • Compile and submit weekly reports to farm owners
  • Collaborate with owner on farm management decisions and innovations

Qualifications


  • Proven experience in farm management, preferably with row crops or vegetable crops
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, agronomy, and modern farming technologies
  • Expertise in operating and maintaining farm equipment
  • Mechanical skills with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs
  • Experience with irrigation systems, particularly pivot irrigation
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in farm management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
