Job Description

AbbVie Data Science is the best-in-class team within its cross-industry peer group and is responsible for bringing people, process, and technology together to generate business value from clinical trials data. Our operational model is exemplified through execution and innovation. This role is key to ensuring successful delivery with highest quality and precision against the program- and study-level accountabilities assigned to Data Sciences. This role is accountable to manage and maintain the program level consistency and an enabler of the operational team supporting trial execution. This role is a highly empowered leader, influencer across the functions within DSS and Development and a contributor to trial planning, design, and flawless execution.

  • Overall owner for Therapeutic Area (TA)
  • Accountable for successful delivery of projects against identified metrics, inspection readiness, & database lock readiness
  • Reviews & plans for portfolio needs and resources
  • Builds and manages cross-functional relationships
  • Participates in vendor qualification activities, as needed
  • Partners with AST/IEST to set program level data collection strategies
  • Leads and facilitates TA Review meetings and represents Data Science at Portfolio Review Meetings.
  • Leads and manages employees, contractors and functional service providers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in business, management information systems, computer science, life sciences or equivalent. Advanced degree (MBA, Phd) preferred. PMP Certification or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt desired
  • Must have 8+ years of pharma / clinical research / data management / health care experience or 10+ years of project management experience (and / or applicable work experience)
  • In-depth understanding of clinical trial processes and involved functional stakeholders, and clinical technology is required.
  • Management of a clinical trial from initiation through to completion in a lead role is required.
  • Demonstrated performance as a cross-functional leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully coach / mentor in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective analytical skills.
  • Ability to model performance behaviors and lead by example and to manage behaviors both of the leaders and the direct reports appropriately
  • Ability to work across functional and geographical boundaries to establish a well-functioning team focused on results.

Able to mentor, coach and strengthen the Functional teams is highly preferred.
