Job description

In this newly created role, you will have full ownership of the Accounting & Finance function with the training and support of the local General Manager (who has a controlling background) and Regional Director. As the Controller, you will be a key driver in improving efficiency and profitability of the business as well.

This role has no direct reports to start and they are looking for someone at the Senior Accountant level, ready for that next step up in title and responsibilities.

My client is a rapidly growing, global catering company that partners with big name players such as Delta Airlines. Located near Glenview, they are seeking a Controller to join due to the immense growth they are experiencing.

As the Controller, you will be a key driver in improving efficiency and profitability of the business as well.

Description

Controller Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and present financial reports and budgets throughout the year.
• Inform management about significant variances and their effects on operations.
• Develop forecasts and budgets on a monthly and annual basis as needed.
• Manage and reconcile fixed assets with the unit's general ledger.
• Oversee the competitive bidding process, identify accounting and financial issues, and propose timely solutions.
• Monitor and authorize all purchases, expenses, salaries, sales, and payments.
• Analyze financial data and recommend actions to enhance profitability.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, and coordinate and delegate tasks to accounting staff as required.
• Supervise Billing, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
• Ensure internal control over revenues, assets, and liabilities, and maintain accounts according to standardized systems.
• Guarantee accurate accounting and timely financial reporting to management.
• Assess departmental performance and adjust operations as necessary to achieve overall goals and objectives.
• Create strong relationships with clients, vendors, banking institutions, auditors, and other stakeholders.

Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance (or related field)
• 5+ years of experience in Accounting
• Manufacturing industry experience nice to have
• Familiarity with inventory process
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge (V-Lookup, pivot tables, macros, complex formulas)
• Software system experience (Microsoft Navision nice to have)
