As a Fundraising and Communications Coordinator, you will work on our client's social media presence as well as support outreach, communication, engagement and fundraising efforts.

Job Description

We are seeking a Fundraising and Communications Coordinator for a non-profit. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Scholar and Donor Services, this individual will play a vital role in enhancing the corporation's outreach, communication, engagement, and fundraising efforts. This is a direct hire opportunity based in Evanston, Illinois. This position is slated to start in January 2025.

Our client's official business hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, this includes one-hour lunch time. Weekly work hours are 35 hours.

Due to our end client, candidates must be eligible to work in the US without a need for sponsorship now or in the future.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate on the execution of fundraising appeals and develop comprehensive communication strategies to highlight key campaigns and donor impact across multiple levels of giving.

  • Work closely with the Donor Services department leadership to develop and implement stewardship plans for the corporation's major donors

  • Advise and strategize on the corporation's social media presence, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging across platforms

  • Assist in creating compelling content to boost visibility and engagement with Scholars, donors, and the public, particularly through the corporation's newsletter, email campaigns, and website

  • Execute integrated communication plans that deliver both targeted and broad-based engagement with donors, aimed at increasing giving and improving donor relations and retention, with a focus on building a sustainable donor base

  • Collaborate on fundraising appeals and initiatives to engage with donors and encourage regular contributions and support

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to promote key campaigns and initiatives

  • Collaborate with internal staff and external fundraising consulting firms to launch and complete a major inaugural fundraising campaign

  • Enhance the organization's digital communications/social media presence, and ensuring the roll-out of strategic, timely, and targeted content across digital platforms while ensuring consistent messaging and increasing impact

  • Analyze engagement metrics and utilize marketing outcomes/tracking tools to assess effectiveness and report on campaign performance

  • Continuously monitor trends in communication methods and channels to ensure best practices are applied and consistently followed

  • Write compelling short- and long-form pieces for the website, social media channels, email campaigns, and digital platforms, tailored to various audiences

  • Coordinate tactical execution of internal and external digital marketing campaigns

  • Coordinate with content creators, including external vendors, on digital communication projects and priorities

  • Assist in organizing events and activities that support stewardship and community engagement

  • Foster relationships with stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and community partners

  • Maintain and update communication materials, including newsletters, brochures, and press releases

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees/certifications preferred

  • At least 3 years of related communication/development/marketing experience

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must have strong project management and organizational skills

  • Must be detail oriented and self-motivated - the ideal candidate is a strong collaborative team player who enjoys working with others and can work independently with limited supervision

  • Must have familiarity with philanthropic and fundraising best practices

  • Thorough knowledge and experience working with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat required

  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software - preferably Salesforce

  • Strong awareness of corporate, private foundation, and collegiate sectors; marketing oriented

  • Professional in demeanor and presentation

  • Commitment to academic excellence

  • Business-like communicator familiar with structured environments and deadlines

  • Ability to effectively present ideas in detail at the boardroom level; strong commitment to the highest ethical business practices

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
