Description:

The Territory Director of Business Development is responsible for developing new and maintaining existing client relationships with preclinical and clinical organizations to grow, retain, and sustain company business and is responsible for all aspects of business development and the promotion of services offered by Alturas Analytics, Inc. The Territory Director of Business Development will serve as the primary point of contact for new potential clients as well as existing clients needing the services Alturas Analytics, Inc. provides and will also be responsible for responding to RFPs and developing sales in their respective territories.


We are seeking candidates residing in the Western half of the United States. However, all qualified candidates from other regions will be considered.

Essential Responsibilities, Duties, and Roles:

  • Assist in business development efforts as defined by annual and quarterly business development strategy to grow revenue.
  • Prospect and qualify new accounts and business that would benefit from Alturas Analytics, Inc. services by territory, service platform or stage of growth.
  • Increase the value of current customers by way of interactions with scientific operations as well attracting new clients by utilization of subject matter experts to drive important scientific discussions critical to the sales process.
  • Responsible for setting appropriate territory field activities and developing these into an action plan which ensures the annual sales targets are achieved.
  • Present existing services to potential and existing clients, primarily through in-person, email, phone, and/or web meetings.
  • In close coordination with Client Services Team, engage with clients to provide and follow up with quotes, including disseminating information internally, following up with clients and taking necessary steps to facilitate close.
  • Coordinate timely visits to well-qualified prospective or current accounts for the sales team.
  • Track all efforts in Client Relationship Management (CRM); assist with database management and business analytic reporting (designing / running reports; developing dashboards, etc.).
  • Prepare monthly territory analysis reports for leadership review.
  • Attend trade shows and sales meetings, as required.

Additional Duties and Tasks as assigned:

  • Prepare business agreements to include project estimates, quotes, and Statements of Work
  • Support marketing efforts, including generating content, developing collateral, coordinating e-blasts, social media, etc.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, science or related field, and 8+ years of directly related experience in comparable sales/business development positions; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with clients, and proven success rate in supporting business development activities as evidence by closed research agreements and contracts
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical development, R&D, preclinical and clinical operations, and Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and regulations governing the industry (21 CFR Part 58, Good Laboratory Practice for Nonclinical Laboratory Studies and 21 CFR Part 11, Electronic Records & Electronic Signatures)
  • Successful proposal and program coordination, client support, marketing experience preferred
  • Life science or preclinical/clinical research experience preferred
  • Working knowledge and competency of Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Salesforce or similar CRM tool

  • Skills in critical thinking, time-management, problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team as well as knowledge of conflict resolution techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external clients
  • Understanding of the operational components of a CRO preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting and working in front of a computer over 2/3 of the time
  • Walking and standing less than 1/3 of the time between departments/offices (if in the office)

  • Climbing, balancing, stooping or kneeling less than 1/3 of the time
  • Talking or hearing over 2/3 of the time
  • Lifting up and pushing/pulling up to 30 lbs. up to 2/3 of the time when traveling
  • Standing up to 3/4 of the time when traveling

Although we love our hometown, relocation is not required for the Territory Director of Business Development position.

Salary: From $148,750 per year plus a commission package
