Help Duties Work directly for Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center (JPMRC) S3 as the Joint Operations Center (JOC) Chief of Operations (CHOPS). Provide tactical and scenario updates directly to the Commander of Operations Group (COG), the Deputy Commander of Operations Group (DCOG), the Operations Group S3, Team 07's and the Commanding General of the rotational training unit. Lead and synchronizes JOC operations executed by a staff 44 D.A. Civilians, Contractors and Military personnel. Serve as Rotational Exercise Control (EXCON) and Higher Unit Control (HICON). Maintain situational awareness at all times, and quickly and accurately provides feedback to Trainers as well as outside agencies on current and future operations. Provide timely and accurate feedback to Observer Controller Teams to enhance and assist them in After Action Review products. Help Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position has a requirement to lift up to 25lbs. in the regular performance of duties. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 50% of the time. During rotational exercises, the employee is required to work a flexible duty hours which includes - weekends, holidays, and shift work consistent of 10-12 hours days for an extended 2-week period or longer. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating the Higher Unit Control (HICON) and Rotational Exercise Control (EXCON) with Higher Command (HICOM); providing tactical and scenario updates directly to the Command Operations Group (COG) for a rotational training unit; This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. This position is subject to deployment through-out the Pacific AOR to include countries West of the International Date Line, that employee is deployed and work in austere and remote field conditions in support of maneuver training exercises as part of a forward support training package. Deployments are to other training areas. In the event of a deployment, the employee must continue to perform assigned duties to support the mission requirements until relieved by proper authority, or the mission is complete. The employee may be required to live and work in tents or shelters while on deployment and may be expose to hazardous conditions. Position requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, sandy, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; climbing in and on military vehicles and equipment at contractor facilities and field training areas; and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as typewriters, record boxes and equipment. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 3 years by a current permanent Army employee.
