Shifts: Day Shift (2 openings) Mon-Fri and Sat & Sun Benefits: Health Insurance and 401k General Purpose To assist the Director of Nursing with administrative nursing duties as well as to provide direct nursing care to residents and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by certified nursing assistants and licensed nurses in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing, Healthcare Administrator and Vice President of Healthcare to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Qualifications: †Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the Sate of Georgia; †Must be at least 21 years of age †Must show the ability to read and write in a legible and understandable manner; †Must speak and understand English †Previous supervisory experience in long term care †Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices, procedures and laws, regulations and guidelines governing long term care; †Positive attitude toward the elderly Essential Job Functions: Administrative Functions Duties: Directs the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants; periodically review and make recommendations for revisions of written nursing policies, procedures, manuals objectives and philosophies; complete and maintain medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charts, resident charges, etc., and submit to appropriate offices or departments for processing: periodically meet with assigned nursing staff in planning shifts, services, programs and activities; admit, transfer and discharge residents as required; ensure that all nursing services personnel are performing their respective duties in accordance with written policies, procedures and manuals; participate in developing, implementing and maintaining a quality assurance program; participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies; interpret the department's policies and procedures to personnel, residents, families, visitors and government agencies as necessary; and , make reports and recommendations to the DON concerning operations of the department. Additionally, to assist the DON with the completion of the monthly nursing schedule and complete the daily nursing assignment forms; assist with obtaining adequate daily staffing; attend the weekly Transfer Team meeting; supervise the Restorative CNA's duties; review & sign incident reports in the DON's absence and forward them to the Healthcare Administrator and Vice President for review; complete follow-up investigations of employee incidents in the absence of the DON and forward these reports to the Human Resource department within 72 hours of the initial incident; attend the weekly Department Head meeting in the absence of the DON; and assist in conducting in-service training for Healthcare Center staff as assigned by the DON. Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices): Ability to read and write in English, ability to communicate with residents, families and personnel and ability to remain calm under stress. Nursing Care Functions Duties: Participate in the orientation of new residents and family members; inform personnel of new admissions, ensure that rooms are ready, greet new admissions and escort to rooms; implement and maintain established nursing objectives and standards; make periodic QA/QI reviews, monitor resident's treatment and medications; make independent decisions regarding nursing care to ensure residents are receiving proper care; work with consultants and implement changes as necessary; ensure cleanliness and safety of all nursing services treatment areas; make rounds with physicians ensuring orders are transcribed and initiated correctly; review nurses notes, medication administration records, treatment administrations records, and ADL flow sheets for proper record keeping; consult with physicians for in providing care, treatment, diagnostic and therapeutic services; review and ensure resident incident reports are completed accurately and submitted to the DON timely; ensure physicians and sponsors are notified of resident accidents, incidents and changes in condition; inform residents and/or sponsors when medications are changed; meet with residents, sponsors and families; communicate resident, sponsor, family, staff, and any concerns to the DON; monitor progress of residents on restorative and complete monthly restorative notes and screens; arrange transportation for residents to medical appointments completing medical necessity forms when an ambulance is required; monitor resident infections and antibiotic orders; submit to DON monthly infection control QA forms; monitor staff compliance with infection control P&P; monitor staff compliance with HIPPA & protected health information: complete initial care plans on all new/re-admit residents and update care plans as changes occur; monitor wound care and provide DON with weekly documentation of wound progress; review and ensure consultant pharmacy recommendations are signed by physician providing a copy to DON; attend weekly Therapy meeting; ensure Medicare part-A certifications/re-certifications are signed by physician appropriately; complete admission chart audits on admissions/re-admissions; assist in maintaining appropriate staff levels; assist with Medicare chart audits; assist in orientation of new HCC employees; work with adjunct staff and vendors; monitor that restraint and psychotropic drug use are correctly documented in physician's orders, nurses notes and care plans; render employee disciplinary action with knowledge of DON; assist with coordinating hospice care; assist with post-mortem care and report to duty prior to and during disasters such as hurricanes, etc. Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices); Fine hand coordination, grasping, walking, bending; ability to communicate with residents, personnel and consultants, ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures; ability to hear and respond to pages ability to read and write in English; ability to stay calm under stress; ability to push and/or pull 100 pounds or greater and ability to lift 50 pounds or greater. Personnel Functions Duties: Develop work assignments; participate in reviewing and evaluating the department's staffing requirements and employee performance evaluations; make recommendations to the DON as necessary to ensure adequate staffing and to expedite work; delegate assignments with accountability to nursing services personnel; make rounds daily to ensure nursing personnel perform duties in accordance with P&P; meet with nursing personnel on a regular basis to identify and correct concerns and improve nursing services; give and receive nursing reports; provide supervision and leadership to other nursing services personnel; and assist in investigating personnel complaints and grievances to ensure compliance to P&P and consistent treatment of employees; participate in rotating seven (7) day on-call. Residents' Rights Functions and Abuse Prevention Duties: Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy; treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect; know and comply with and ensure that all nursing personnel know and comply with Residents' Rights rules; monitor that residents' rights and needs are met; and promptly report to the DON complaints and grievances. Monitor for and report signs or indications of abuse to the DON and/or Associate Administrator. Other Job Functions: A. Care Plan and Assessment Functions Duties: Assist and participate in developing and updating an initial care plan that identifies the nursing and medical problems and /or needs of the resident and the goals to be accomplished for each problem and/or need identified; encourage residents and their families to participate in the development and review of care plans; attend care plan meetings; ensure that all nursing personnel are aware of the care plans and that care plans are used in providing daily nursing services to the residents; review nurse's notes and and monitor residents to determine if the care plans are being followed and if residents' needs are being met. Staff Development Functions Duties: Participate in developing, planning, implementing, conducting and orientation, training and in-service educational activities for nursing personnel; assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished; maintain professional competence, as well as current licenses, through participation in continuing education programs, seminars and training programs; and, assist in ensuring that all nursing services personnel attend and participate in in-service training programs. Safety and Sanitation Functions Duties: Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining safety standards, written aseptic and isolation techniques, programs for monitoring communicable and/or infectious diseases among residents and personnel and procedures for reporting hazardous conditions or equipment; monitor assigned nursing services personnel to ensure that established infection control procedures, Universal Precautions, established safety rules, and fire and disaster procedures are followed; and, ensure cleanliness of : nursing services work areas; clean linen, soiled utility, wheel chair storage, resident rooms, dining and activity areas. Planning and Inventory Functions Duties: Recommend equipment and supplies needed for resident care; assist in developing and monitoring adequate, cost effective inventory control procedures; make periodic inspections of supplies and equipment to ensure that adequate levels are maintained and that equipment is available and working properly; and . click apply for full job details
