JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: MP&L Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The MP&L Manager is accountable for managing material planning and logistics activities for the plant.
Manages all aspects of materials flow to maintain control and accuracy of inventories including all
transactions, procurement, planning, scheduling, cost, receiving and warehouse operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and implement materials planning strategy that ensures material availability (in quantity and time) to support production schedules defined based on customer requirements and orders.
Coordinate material flow into and out of the facility on a Just-In-Time (JIT) basis to insure 100% ontime delivery of quality products to the customer while controlling costs.
Collaborate with production and procurement teams to ensure that materials are ordered and received in a timely matter to meet production schedules.
Execute and develop strategic planning goals in the areas of supplier delivery performance, inventory metrics, logistics & premium freight.
Manage material handling activities of the department to include line feeding and warehouse operations.
Build and manage the delivery schedule of incoming containers.
Analyze freight cost data and examine opportunities for cost reductions.
Develop procedures and methods, which improve material and logistics controls, quality, productivity, cost, and logistics operations.
Participate in negotiations with production material suppliers to ensure optimum pricing and terms, as necessary.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with scheduling activities that optimize inventory turns.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial and fiscal inventory reports.
Oversee the scheduling, recording, and reporting of physical inventories.
Ensure non-conforming material is identified and dispositioned accordingly.
Participate in the development of the company goals and objectives to support the annual business plan.
Promote and recommends continuous improvement suggestions including environment, people processes, and equipment/machinery.
Delegate responsibilities and manage employees.
Interview, hire, train and monitor employees' performance.
Ensure all employees comply with company rules, policies, procedures and regulations, while meeting established productivity targets.
Support and participate in EHS objectives
Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERINCE:
Bachelor's degree in field related with production and inventory control and/or equivalant combination of education and experience required.
8-10 years of experience in materials management and operations.
Experience in auto manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
Bilingual (Korean English) strongly preferred.
Either SMART or DDL Systems experience required.
Knowledge of MRP and Operations/Inventory Management practices
Knowledge and use of Materials Information Systems and methodologies.
Strong grasp of Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail.
Ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and employees at all levels.
Ability to multitask and perform in a deadline driven environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Manages various employee groups: Assistant Managers, Supervisors, and salaried and hourly MP&L employees.
COMPETENCIES:
Proficient in managing quantity and quality of materials and products, inventory control, distribution, replenishment plans and on-going supplier relationships.
Ability to develop, implement, and maintain material planning strategy and streamlining.
Strong computer and analytical skill.
Strong interpersonal skills & ability to work in a team environment.
Bilingual (Korean-English) strongly preferred in order to maintain successful communication with Korean-based customers.
Ability to interface with customer.
Strong supervisory skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office work environment (Primary).
Plant work environment with fluctuations in temperature (hotter in the summer, cooler in the winter). Exposure to certain noise levels and bright lights.
Warehouse work environment.
PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
Ability to reach up above the head.
Ability to bend and stoop.
Ability to focus for extended periods of time.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to analyze information, identify problems
TRAVEL:
Periodic travel may be required to a customer sites by car or plane.
