About the role:

The Utilities Technician II maintains and troubleshoots equipment that supports utilities and manufacturing areas. Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cGMPs, and Quality Standards in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility are mandatory. Primary responsibilities include ensuring safe and efficient hands-on operations and limited maintenance of manufacturing and utilities systems including WWPP, WFI, RO, HVAC, distillation, compressed air, steam, thermal fluids, and components such as pumps, fans, and valves.

How you will contribute:
  • Operate and maintain different equipment through routine inspection and review.
  • Perform limited preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance of all associated equipment.
  • All work must be completed observing cGMPs, SOPs, job plans, and company policies.
  • Review and revise related SOPs and job/work plans for work related areas.
  • Help develop operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure that operational log and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.
  • Provide support for startup of new equipment to ensure it meets all mechanical design specifications.
  • Develop a basic proficiency in one or more advanced maintenance technology and understand how to apply technology to improve equipment reliability, e.g., alignment, balancing, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound, or vibration monitoring.
  • Must follow all safety rules and ensure compliance with state and federal EPA regulation and laws.
  • Attend required Instructor Lead Trainings and planned team meetings.
  • The Utilities Technician must take a limited amount of available information and make process reliant decisions on utilities and manufacturing systems under unstable conditions while continuing to monitor all other systems.
  • You will support multiple manufacturing Teams. There are several maintenance and contractors that spend a large amount of time working with the utilities group. Lastly, intermittent interaction may be required with the county that provides waste services for the site.
What You Bring to Takeda:
  • Requires high school diploma or GED. 2+ years of industrial experience required with Utilities and Wastewater experience preferred.
  • Communicate ideas through verbal and written form.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Work with peers and other teams, seek outside resources as needed, and understand procedures, schematics, and job blueprints.
  • Provide a limited level of troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair of building systems, equipment and equipment components.
  • Manufacturing equipment vessels, mixers, valves, and pumps.
  • Operate general laboratory equipment to assess analytical status of the utilities process.
Important Considerations

As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product or putting anyone at the site in harm's way. You may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
  • May work in cold, wet, sunlight, limited light, and heat.
  • May be exposed to heights, loud noises, dust, gasses, and fumes.
  • May be around moving equipment and machinery.
  • May climb up to and into large equipment for cleaning or inspection.
  • Work exclusively on nights for 12.5 hours on a 2-2-3 schedule.
  • May work or be assigned to a different shift as needed.
  • Overtime coverage is required.
  • May kneel, stand, climb, and walk to inspect, evaluate, and perform described maintenance activities to include lifting of items up to 50 lbs.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$18.85 - $29.62

The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term incentives.
