Class Summary This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,560 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits. Job Description Gwinnett County's Department of Water Resources is currently recruiting to hire a Part-Time Education Associate to support the Information & Outreach's Education Team. $25.00 per hour, up to 29 hours per week, not to exceed 1,560 hours per year. Essential Duties Presents Water on Wheels, the Department's environmental education program that travels to schools to educate the next generation of watershed stewards on stream health, the human water cycle, pollution prevention, and water infrastructure. Assists the Water Resources Program Coordinator to develop new school programs and contests to expand the Department's educational programming. Assists with existing contests such as the middle school Model Water Tower Competition and high school art contest. Supports the Public Information and Outreach team by attending staff events such as festivals and tabling within the community. Teaches and interacts with people of all ages to help meet the educational goals of the Department. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in education or closely related field; Two years of teaching experience (Familiarity with teaching science preferred); Available between 8:00am and 3:00pm, working 4-days per week; Available to attend the occasional evening or weekend event; A valid driver's license and the ability to meet requirements to operate a Gwinnett County vehicle PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate physical activity including stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and the ability to lift 30 pounds Benefits Offered This position is not eligible for benefits.
