This position will report into the Quality Manager and will be responsible for internal and 3rd party audits, first article inspections, working with measuring equipment, and reading customer prints. Description

The Senior Quality Engineer - Metals Manufacturing will be responsible for the following:

  • Quality Systems Management: Maintain and improve the company's quality management system (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 standards and other relevant aerospace industry regulations.
  • Process Improvement: Lead continuous improvement efforts using Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other quality methodologies to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough root cause analyses on non-conformities and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to mitigate recurring issues.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure that materials and components meet aerospace quality standards. Perform audits, inspections, and reviews as necessary.
  • Customer Interface: Serve as the primary contact for quality-related customer concerns. Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing quality issues, preparing reports, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Auditing: Lead internal and external audits to ensure compliance with aerospace industry certifications (AS9100, NADCAP, etc.) and other regulatory standards.
  • Training and Mentorship: Train, mentor, and lead junior engineers and quality control staff in best practices for quality assurance and manufacturing excellence.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed quality reports, statistical analysis, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with aerospace industry requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to develop, implement, and optimize processes for new product introductions (NPI) and existing products.

Profile

The ideal Senior Quality Engineer - Metals Manufacturing will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, preferably within the aerospace or metals manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of AS9100, NADCAP, and FAA regulations.
  • Proven experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies
  • Expertise in non-destructive testing (NDT), metallurgical analysis, and material properties as applied to aerospace components.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and CAPA.
  • Proficiency in quality tools and software (e.g., Minitab, SAP, or similar platforms).
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with a track record of leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with high-temperature alloys, titanium, and other metals commonly used in aerospace applications.
  • Familiarity with FAI (First Article Inspection), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and MSA (Measurement System Analysis).
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Job Offer

The successful Senior Quality Engineer - Metals Manufacturing will be rewarded with the following:

  • Base Salary of $80,000-$110,000 depending on experience
