Job description

Job Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for analyzing project documents, specifications, and drawings to develop accurate cost estimates for fire protection systems. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure bids are competitive, comprehensive, and aligned with client needs and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Review project plans, specifications, and documents to determine the scope of fire protection systems (sprinklers, fire alarms, etc.)
  • Prepare detailed estimates including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather all necessary data for accurate estimates
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring timely submission for all projects
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services
  • Analyze and identify potential risks or challenges and propose solutions to mitigate costs
  • Maintain and update cost databases with current pricing for labor, materials, and equipment
  • Track project changes and revise estimates as necessary to reflect scope modifications
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations when necessary to gather information for accurate bidding
  • Support project handovers by providing key insights and breakdowns of estimates to the project management team
  • Stay informed about fire protection industry standards, codes, and new materials or technologies

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience as an Estimator, preferably in the fire protection or mechanical construction industry
  • Strong understanding of fire protection systems (fire alarms, sprinklers, etc.) and their installation processes
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints
  • Experience with estimating software and tools (e.g., Quick Bid, Bluebeam, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and vendors
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of local and national fire protection codes and regulations
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required
