General Description and Classification Standards

This position serves the citizens of Atlanta by providing direct support to the Pollution Control Monitor Senior and operates as a team member of the Stormwater Compliance Sampling Team. This position is responsible for providing pollutant source-tracking activities of potential illicit discharges and conducting water quality sampling of local rivers, creeks and streams. This position also inspects greenway properties as well as stormwater inspection of various regulated facilities such Municipal, Industrial, and Highly Visible. Working outdoors in inclement weather, year-round in challenging conditions such as traveling by foot through areas with no developed access is a requirement. This position ensures compliance with requirements of the City's Stormwater Management Plan, NPDES Permit, Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District, the First Amended Consent Decree; and provide overall compliance support in accordance with the U.S. Clean Water Act.

Supervision Received

Most of the work in the position requires working with a team, some tasks require working independently and providing feedback to Supervisor and Management. This position normally receives guidance regarding overall mission, scheduling, unusual priorities, etc.

  • Ensure daily task, sampling and inspections are completed properly and timely
  • Ensure database system updated accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ensures inquiries and complaints are responded to promptly
  • Report any issues to Team Lead

Knowledge of regulations, concepts, principals, and procedures related to stormwater compliance and inspections as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities. Candidate must have general knowledge of applicable ordinances, policies and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job. Have the ability to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, and operations, as they pertain to departmental inspections, operations and activities. Must be organized and possess strong leadership skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with management, team members and the public. Has the ability to utilize and understand computer applications and techniques as necessary for database management and the completion of daily assignments.
