Discover Your Career at Emory University:
Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.
Description:
The Division of Geriatrics & Gerontology is in an exciting phase of growth and recruitment of research faculty who will expand our dynamic and collaborative research enterprise. Emory has dedicated substantial resources - financial investment, cutting edge research space and exceptional colleagues - for these researchers who will help shape discovery on their upward trajectory.
With the goal of expanding innovative, interdisciplinary research and scholarship aimed at improving human health, the Division seeks to strategically strengthen research in cross-cutting scientific disciplines related to aging research, including, but not limited to managing multiple chronic conditions, enhancing caregiving, data sciences, AI/machine learning, health disparities and outcomes science, and innovations in promoting optimized independence in aging. Solving complex problems require a community of diverse points of view. The more diversity we have in our team, the more unique perspectives we offer to how we approach excellence in healthcare and research.
We seek exceptional candidates in these broadly defined areas of medicine who will enhance our research strengths in alignment with the priorities of the School of Medicine to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, establish Emory as an eminent research institution, and expand our collaborations with our distinguished partner institutions such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Georgia Institute of Technology, Morehouse School of Medicine, Grady Memorial Hospital, the University of Georgia and numerous international partners.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have an MD, PhD or MD/PhD with a strong record of academic research accomplishments and scholarship, a demonstrated capacity to secure external funding, and the ability to develop and lead a collaborative, interdisciplinary program. Basic scientists, clinical researchers and health services researchers are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with interdisciplinary research. Per Emory School of Medicine Guidelines for Appointment and Promotion, all new faculty are eligible for tenure, whether or not they intend to pursue tenure.
