Job description

Responsible for performing maintenance, repair and construction of water distribution systems throughout Seminole County. Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description. Qualified candidates can expect to start at $20.00/hr. Additional compensation based on licensure. Assist other staff and/or work independently in maintenance, repair and construction of water distribution systems. Install and maintain water meters, backflow assemblies and meter boxes. Installs and repairs water distribution pipelines and appurtenances. Operates various types of maintenance equipment to perform assigned job tasks. Completes required field paperwork. Documents work performed within a computerized work order management system. Responsible for adherence to proper safety standards and procedures. Responsible for maintaining all safety equipment and related records. Responds to after-hour emergency call outs and participate in the after-hours on call schedule. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Duties In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience related to water distribution systems or plumbing. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver License, Class "A" with Tanker endorsement, or obtain within six (6) months. Must possess and maintain a Level 3 FDEP Water Distribution license or equivalent, or obtain within two (2) years. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.Must have the ability to operate heavy equipment including, backhoe, ditch-witch, front-end loader, and other similar equipment. Must have the ability to operate small gas powered equipment such as pumps, mud-hogs, vacuum trailers, etc. Must have the ability to read blue prints and maps. Must have normal color vision and hearing. Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must have the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Arc-Explorer or equivalent GIS computer programs. All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings. Department Specific trainings per position may be required.
