Job description
Hanley Foundation, a non-profit organization based in West Palm Beach that aims to eliminate addiction through prevention, treatment, advocacy, and recovery support, seeks a Family Services Therapist to join the team at our state-of-the-art substance use/mental health treatment facility in sunny West Palm Beach, Florida. The Family Services Therapist reports to the Clinical Director of Family Services and facilitates psycho-educational lectures, group processes, and family sessions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Directs therapeutic activities according to directions from the Clinical Director of Family Services or designee.
- Upon patient admission, provide family assessments/orientation to family services via phone or telehealth with family members as assigned.
- Provides access to the Hanley Foundation Family Services Portal and weekly family support groups.
- Makes proper referrals for family members to local Al-anon meetings and family therapists.
- Coordinates with the Continuum of Care Department as a source of family therapists.
- Coordinates with family and referred therapist to set family appointments.
- Coordinates with the Clinical Director on assessments and referrals made for family members.
- Assures family assessments are uploaded into the patient chart and emails appropriate clinical team members on receipt.
- Completes documentation of family calls made and all family services provided.
- Serves as the family clinical liaison to daily treatment team meetings for the assigned Hanley Foundation program.
- Participates in the bi-weekly Hanley Foundation Family Program. This includes registering family members, conducting lectures and family sessions, setting up and breaking down, etc., as needed.
- Assists the clinical team with any requested family issues.
- Completes duties in a professional and timely manner by Hanley Foundation standards.
- Report all alleged incidents of abuse or neglect by all state standards and accrediting bodies.
- Ensures that all records are accurate and timely.
- Ensures that all records are available for all state and accrediting bodies.
- Provides information and referral services.
- Ensures that all relevant information is provided to the patient, family members, or managing conservator on a regular basis, at least weekly.
- Facilitates groups and lectures for patients.
- Attends staff meetings as scheduled and as needed.
- Protects client's rights.
- Uphold all Hanley Foundation Healthcare policies and procedures.
- Maintain patient/ potential patient confidentiality by Hanley Foundation Policy.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge, experience, and competence in the specific areas of adult treatment, adult co-morbid complications, and family systems theory.
- Must be computer literate and be familiar with most Microsoft products and network components.
- Must have fluid communication skills that foster teamwork and high morale
- Must be thoroughly familiar with and be able to demonstrate knowledge of the principles and programs of the various 12-step fellowships.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field, focusing on mental health and substance use disorders.
- Florida license as a qualified credentialed counselor (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, MCAP).
- At least five (5) years experience working in the chemical dependency field.
- CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) preferred.
- One (1) year of clinical experience working with families in the chemical dependency field is required.
- Understanding of primary mental health/dual-diagnosis issues preferred.
- Experience facilitating group and community counseling is required.
- Thorough understanding of the 12-step philosophy, addiction, codependency, addiction interaction disorders, and family dynamics.
- If in recovery, one (1) year of continuous sobriety is required.
