Position Title: Firefighter/EMT-Paramedic - Position No: 4.127
The Temple Terrace Fire Department is currently seeking candidates for the positions of Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must successfully complete the CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) and FIRETEAM assessments to be eligible for consideration.
After passing both assessments, candidates should ensure their information is listed with the Temple Terrace Fire Department on the National Testing Network (NTN) site.
Selection of candidates will be made directly from the NTN eligibility list. The Temple Terrace Fire Department will contact selected candidates after the application window closes on November 29, 2024.
Salary Information:

$55,693 to $80,722
Salary includes a $7,000 paramedic incentive. Additional salary incentives and holiday compensation are also available.

Defined Benefit Pension with a 3.5% multiplier, normal retirement (20 years of service or 10 years and age 54), 8-year DROP, and guaranteed 3% COLA.

Department Overview:

Established in 1925, the Temple Terrace Fire Department provides both ALS (Advanced Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) transport services.
The department operates from two fire stations within the city and responds to approximately 4,500 calls annually.
The department is staffed by 57 career administrative and operational personnel across three shifts.
The Temple Terrace Fire Department has been internationally accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) since 2006 and holds an ISO Class 1 rating.
City Information:

The City of Temple Terrace has a population of 27,000 and is located in northeast Hillsborough County, covering 7.5 square miles.
Temple Terrace is a planned golf course community centered around the historic Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club, established in 1925.
The fire department serves the residents and visitors of Temple Terrace and provides mutual aid assistance to the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County.
Job Requirements:
Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
Education: Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Driver's License: Must possess a valid Florida state drivers license.
Language: Must be able to read and speak English.
Vision: Must meet the vision requirements as specified in NFPA 1582.
Preferred Education: College education preferred.
Certification: Must possess a current State of Florida Firefighter I/II Certification.
Other Certification: Must have a current State of Florida Paramedic and/or EMT Certification. Candidates must obtain a State of Florida Paramedic license within two years of employment.
Additional Requirements: Must be tobacco-free for one year prior to appointment and maintain a tobacco-free status throughout employment with the Fire Department (affidavit required).
Disqualifiers:
Criminal Activity: A criminal history background investigation will be conducted before hiring.
Driving Record: Verification of a valid drivers license will be conducted prior to hiring.
Drug Use: The City of Temple Terrace is a drug-free workplace, and a pre-employment drug screening will be conducted before hiring.
Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of firefighting and rescue methods, first aid, CPR, ACLS techniques, emergency medical practices, and equipment.
Familiarity with firefighting terminology, fire characteristics, and the use of standard firefighting and rescue tools and equipment.
Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing, and through hand signals.
Capability to function efficiently under stressful conditions and to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment.
Ability to perform physically demanding work under hazardous conditions and operate various firefighting and rescue equipment.
Strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively and interact effectively with diverse individuals in various situations.
