Job description
Position Summary
The Night Engineer Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, organization, maintenance and repairs of all of hotel areas, public areas, pools, guestrooms, public restrooms, Food & Beverage outlets, meeting spaces and conventions areas. This position requires consistent adherence to policies and procedures of the department as outlined in the Biltmore Standard Operating Procedures (BSOP'S).
Responsibilities
- Assist Chief in all operations related to his/her field such as, but not limited to: Physical appearance of all areas of the hotel, well performance of all equipment related to HVAC, Power/Electricity, Kitchen, Laundry, Lights and Plumbing in general.
- Perform close supervision on staff previously assigned according to his field of responsibility. Also perform close supervision to the entire engineering staff as necessary. Provide and/or facilitate all necessary training to the staff under his supervision.
- Help and assist Chief Engineer in the following task: Implement policies, programs and systems that will optimize the performance of engineering department, keep a close control of cost, expenses and payroll.
- Perform close follow-up in all external and internal customers' complaints to assure the best result as possible.
- Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.
- Verify completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces, and grounds. Verify completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas.
- Monitor and ensure all guest request are being completed in timely fashion. Accurate record keeping through Hotsos on assigned tasks is required.
- Maintain effective Preventive Maintenance programs for public areas and conduct special training as needed for new hires.
- Perform general repair and maintenance of any and all equipment found in and around the hotel. Specific work areas will be assigned as needed to each employee, based on skill level and experience.
Requirements
Experience and Education Required
- Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent and Technical School preferred
- Experience
- Minimum two years' experience as Engineering Supervisor or Lead men preferred

Physical Demands
- Must be able to:
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds
- Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- Use, carry, and operate all necessary office equipment using finger dexterity.
- Communicate with employees, managers, subordinates and guests through verbal communication, hearing ability, and visual acuity.
- Visually look at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Adapt to moderate temperatures in the hotel as thermostat is controlled by hotel environmental systems. Most work tasks are performed indoors.
