Job description

Duties Develop policies and guidance for the management of theater Force Protection Condition (FPCON) levels Prepare and develop of Force Protection estimates and decision briefs for senior leaders and develop advisories to ensure dissemination of threat information and security posture changes. Support the development and sustainment of Memorandums of Agreement between Chiefs of Mission and the United State South Command (USSOUTHCOM) Commander on security responsibility for Department of Defense (DoD) elements and personnel in each country. Conduct staff assistance visits and command inspections as a member of the United State South Command (USSOUTHCOM) Joint Inspector General Program to monitor the effectiveness of subordinate unit Anti-Terrorism Force Protection programs. Performs as a strategic staff officer responsible to understand strategic priorities, conduct internal and external coordination, and perform as lead action officer to ensure stakeholder coordination on diverse products. Perform as a member of the United State South Command (USSOUTHCOM) Battle Staff and Crisis Action Team to monitor current operations, advise on appropriate response measures, and serve as the command expert to field requests for information. Performs as Anti-Terrorism Officer to support United State South Command USSOUTHCOM-hosted events and conferences in the area of responsibility. Collaborating with the hosting activity, conducting vulnerability assessments, coordinating with U.S. and host nation officials, developing Anti-Terrorism plan, and providing oversight during events. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent must be able to obtain/maintain the required security clearance. Position will require temporary duty travel of 25%. Incumbent may be required to pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter according to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The position could require shift work or varying shifts beyond the eight (8) hour duty day or a five (5) day duty week. Employee is subject to 24-hour recall to perform emergency response duties. May include tour(s) of duty on weekends or nights to support training for or during actual emergency operations. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document . Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. Coordinate education and training for workforce security and protection; 2. Develop risk management assessment process; 3. Provide guidance on physical security plans and policies; and 4. Monitor organizational compliance with personnel and industrial security requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
