The Core Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day Hematology (Hematology/Urinalysis/Coagulation) and Chemistry department operations. This position requires an individual highly skilled in all clinical areas as it relates to Laboratory results. This individual helps maintain excellent rapport among Laboratory, Physicians, Nursing Staff and other Hospital Departments. This individual works closely with the Laboratory Leadership team to maintain policy, procedures and day-to-day operations of the specific Department Laboratories.

Work customarily involves analytical testing of blood and/or human biological specimens. Analytical laboratory testing generally requires a moderate to high degree of theoretical and practical knowledge and expertise in licensed area(s). Depending on campus and department, various pre-and post-analytical work processes are included in the work duties customarily performed. Follows laboratory policies and procedures; maintains quality control practices in the Laboratory. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

$10,000 Sign on Bonus eligible: 2-Year Commitment

The following sign on premium amount will be paid in three installments (25% will be paid after the team member has been in the premium eligible full-time position for 90-days, 25% will be paid after the team member has been in the premium eligible fulltime position for (365 Days) 1 year. The remaining 50% will be paid after the team member has been in the premium eligible full-time position for (731 days) 2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares staff schedule and workflow assignments as required
  • Recognizes that the attainment of knowledge is every employees responsibility accepts accountability for staying current on all written or electronic communication
  • Manages quality assessment and technical oversight, problem solving, scheduling, interviewing applicants, provides input for staff performance, oversees training and competency evaluations
  • Manages employees in hiring, coaching, or termination with limited supervision from leadership
  • May assist with Standard Operating Procedures and document control
  • Assess competencies according to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations
  • Assists the Laboratory management with special projects as assigned
  • Reads, examines, and interprets complex test results. Serves as a resource and addresses complex tests/procedures
  • Manages instrument maintenance and troubleshooting practices
  • Leads quality control and quality assurance testing
  • Assists with data collection and special projects, as assigned
Qualifications
  • Education
    • Bachelors Degree
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration:
      • State of Florida Laboratory Personnel (TN) license in all areas
      • State of Florida Supervisor (SU) license - Preferred
  • Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required
    • Laboratory Experience: 5 Years
