Job description

SMX is seeking a Senior USNAVSOUTH Air Operations Planner to support our customer located at Mayport Naval Station, Florida. The qualified candidate will be responsible for interfacing directly with the Government customer at their onsite facility. Candidate will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise on unmanned systems supporting future operational missions, leveraging analysis and programmatic expertise in executing contracting actions with subcontractors, supporting command operations logistics, implementing plans, programs, policies, and procedures during deliberate planning phases. The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, perform as a self-starter able to timely and efficiently manage multiple tasks, make decisions in ambiguous conditions, while meeting provided deadlines with minimal supervision. This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide aviation operations expertise, requirements validation/clarification and guidance on USN Maritime and aviation related matters including regulations, reports, assess/monitor subcontractors, and answer data calls as required. Serve as a subject matter expert on airspace and ICAO regulations. Serve as 4th Fleet SME for UAS systems integration into the maritime mission and objectives for affiliated component units, governmental organizations, and partner nation in the SOUTHCOM AOR Demonstrate and share gained experience with working groups, by identifying areas for future implementation of current and arising innovative uncrewed vehicles and technologies, with the final intent of maximizing autonomous operations in support of Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) Execute logistic planning with associated stakeholders, to include contracting actions with all subcontractors and provide technical support for planning, exercises, testing and operational activities within the SOUTHCOM AOR Lead, schedule, secure, and setup meeting locations, communications, and integration support of various innovative naval based uncrewed technologies to achieve customer mission intentions Utilize Government and non-government sources to initiate market research, evaluation, operational assessment, collection, and analysis to facilitate asset acquisition able to meet N9/SMX requirements Serve as a project coordinator for all Maritime Domain Awareness current and future projects, providing risk assessment, cost, technical constraints, alternate planning and scheduled work required, while overseeing the project completion This position will require 20% of travel Required Skills & Experience Required clearance: Secret Bachelor's degree Proven ability to deliver strategic advice, technical guidance, and analysis relating to the UAS mission 2+ years of experience supporting Navy or military planning and operations at the operational, service, fleet, or COCOM level 6+ years of military, aviation, or Contractor Owned Contractor Operated (COCO) experience Demonstrated success as an independent representative for major event or exercises Knowledge of airspace de-confliction and ATO process Experience in application of Aviation capabilities in a Maritime environment in support Ability to communicate effectively with Senior Officers and leadership at all levels Proficient with Microsoft 365 Ability to speak and brief complex operations to a wide audience and senior leaders. Prior Maritime Operations Center (MOC) experience or equivalent Desired Skills & Experience Rated Military Aviator Bilingual in Spanish and English Maritime Staff Operators Course (MSOC) or equivalent military operations planning course Knowledge of the six-step Navy planning process (NPP) or equivalent Completion of Military/JPME I or equivalent 2+ years of experience relating to the USV and UAV mission and program challenges Understanding of or experience with GFR, IFC, DRAMOC standard, operations, and requirements At SMX , we are a team of technical and domain experts dedicated to enabling your mission.
