Job description

Shelter House, the state-certified domestic violence center for Okaloosa and Walton Counties is seeking an Executive Director.

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directions and is responsible for:

Financial and administrative management and oversight

Overall strategic and executive management of the organization

Ensuring that services provided to survivors of domestic violence are mission-focused, inclusive and without bias

Providing sufficient staff development to achieve overall organizational mission

Securing sufficient funding for operational and special project needs through grants/contracts, fundraising events, donor development and community partnerships

Budget preparation, approval and revisions in cooperation with state/federal and local entities

Maintenance of organizational records and historical documents, including but not limited to confidential participant and personnel records

Capital project management of multiple facilities

Human resource management of agency staff

Community engagement to promote the organization

Public relations with media and other community members

Requirements

The minimum requirements for the position are:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years' experience working in the domestic violence field;

Or

Four years' experience in an administrative/management capacity and two years' experience working in the domestic violence field. Must have Domestic Violence Experience

Additional training is required within 90 days of hire.

The successful candidate will:

display characteristics of an effective leader

have strong verbal and written communication skills

exercise sound judgment while interacting with survivors, staff and the community and be able to implement conflict resolution and de-escalation methods

be proficient with modern technological systems, database management and social media platforms

be knowledgeable of organizational budgets, non-profit finance and operations to include contract management and grant-writing skills

embrace the demanding work associated with working in a domestic violence center.
