Job description

Torch Technologies is seeking an Aerodynamic and Structural Design engineer to be the team's knowledgeable person with experience in identifying, analyzing, and evaluating aerodynamic structural characteristics. performance of armament systems resulting from transportation, handling, storage, and operational use. The selected candidate shall have experience with wind tunnel testing, evaluation, computational fluid dynamics, and M&S as it relates to aerodynamics, weapon systems, and associated structures. The U.S. Air Force is developing a new LRSO nuclear missile. The service plans to field the LRSO by 2030 to replace the current, General Dynamics (now Raytheon) AGM-129A Advanced Cruise Missile (ACM) that originally entered service in 1991. In May 2021, the Air Force awarded an Engineering and Manufacturing Design (EMD) contract to Raytheon Missiles and Defense, Tucson, Arizona. The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Nuclear Weapons Acquisition Division (AFNWC/NDB), which is resident at Eglin AFB, Florida, is the System Program Office (SPO) responsible for the acquisition. This position requires a highly motivated individual with vast experience. Essential duties include: Analyzes weapon specifications performance characteristics. Evaluates new technologies for application in improving design of aerospace systems. Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates testing of aerospace systems. Performs risk assessment of those systems and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies Reviews test plans and test reports of shock and vibration testing. Validate data analysis provided by the prime contractor and perform their own analysis to validate the information provided. Review proposed design alterations/variations and provides a risk assessment of the proposed changes. Job Requirements Desired Experience/Qualification Must have Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering, Must have at least 12 or more years in related aerospace engineering experience. Must be a U.S. Citizen Must have an active SECRET DoD security clearance. Must be eligible for a Top Secret clearance. Should be familiar with DoD Acquisition processes or project management professional principles. Additional Notes This position requires candidates to possess a current SECRET security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a SECRET security clearance will result in a candidate being ineligible for this position. This position is located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
