Job description

Torch Technologies is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer (BSME/BSAE minimum) to support the LRSO program as a manufacturing engineer. The position will require an engineer who has spent time on the manufacturing floor and has experience in casting, additive manufacturing, and tooling. The team will lean on this person to support vendor assessments, and the candidate should have a keen eye for best practices on the shop floor. The role will review design agency drawings, contracting documentation, and vendor processes to help the team ensure that the USAF will get the best hardware for our system. The candidate must have an existing DOD secret or DOE L clearance at a minimum. This position is located at Eglin AFB, FL. The U.S. Air Force is developing a new LRSO nuclear missile. The service plans to field the LRSO by 2030 to replace the current, General Dynamics (now Raytheon) AGM-129A Advanced Cruise Missile (ACM) that originally entered service in 1991. In May 2021, the Air Force awarded an Engineering and Manufacturing Design (EMD) contract to Raytheon Missiles and Defense, Tucson, Arizona. The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Nuclear Weapons Acquisition Division (AFNWC/NDB), which is resident at Eglin AFB, Florida, is the System Program Office (SPO) responsible for the acquisition. This position requires a highly motivated individual with experience to include the below job duties: Review design agency drawings for technical accuracy. Review vendor processes for completeness and the ability to reliably produce products. Act as knowledgeable person on the team for manufacturing various parts from metal castings, to additively manufactured panels, to detailed machine work of large structures. Provide written feedback/documentation of all findings of technical drawings. Review variations to the technical baseline and provide technical assessments of the viability of the changes. Write, coordinate, and maintain program documentation. Prepare reports and presentations and give technical presentations for program leadership. Job Requirements Required/Desired Skills & Experience MUST have a BS Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering MUST have a minimum of 12 years performing engineering work, MSME and 10 years' experience is equivalent. MUST have a current DOD Secret Clearance (or US Gov equivalent), MUST be TS eligible Desired to have Air Force DAU Engineering and Technical Management (or similar) MUST be able to travel up to 1 time per month. MUST be able to work onsite. No telework allowed for this position. Additional Notes This position requires candidates to possess a current SECRET security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a SECRET security clearance will result in a candidate being ineligible for this position. This position is located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
