We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Network Engineer to join our team on a part time or contract basis. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network design, implementation, and management. This role involves creating and maintaining robust network infrastructures, ensuring optimal performance, and resolving complex network issues. Roles and Responsibilities Individual will be responsible for collaborating with a variety of customers to support implementation of networks which implement the concept of strong authentication access controls across a variety of technology platforms. This includes knowledge of how to configure routers, switches, and firewalls to control system, network traffic, and user data. Experience with configuring MAC authentication bypass (MAB). The network engineer should operate from an auditor mindset, identifying compliance and security gaps. Experience should include the ability to: Network Design and Implementation: Design and deploy scalable network architectures tailored to organizational needs, including routers, switches, and access points. Implement and configure network equipment and technologies to ensure efficient and secure network operations. Network Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal operation and uptime. Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, performance bottlenecks, and hardware failures. Security and Compliance: Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS). Ensure network configurations comply with industry standards and organizational policies. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities. Prepare and present reports on network performance, incidents, and enhancements. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with IT teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to integrate network solutions and support organizational projects. Provide technical support and training to users and IT staff as needed. Performance Optimization: Analyze network performance metrics and implement optimization strategies to enhance speed, reliability, and efficiency. Regularly review and update network designs to accommodate evolving technology and business needs. Vendor Management: Evaluate and recommend network hardware and software solutions from various vendors. Manage relationships with vendors and ensure timely procurement and support for network components. Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest networking technologies, trends, and best practices. Identify opportunities for network improvements and innovations, and implement them as appropriate. Required Qualifications Experience: Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role, with a strong understanding of network design, configuration, and management. Proficiency with network hardware and software from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Dell, and Aruba. Experience with network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and network troubleshooting tools. Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) are preferred. Clearance: Must currently possess a minimum Secret clearance. This is an on-site role. If not local to the National Capital Region (NCR) of Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC, must be willing to travel.
