Summary Must have an active Top Secret Clearance at minimum We are seeking a skilled Senior Database Administrator (Sr. DBA) to join our team and provide support for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). As a Sr. DBA, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, configuring, and maintaining enterprise database systems within the DISA environment. You will collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure the availability, security, and optimal performance of DISA's Database server systems. Your expertise will contribute to the successful operation of critical systems that support the defense and security of our nation. Responsibilities Design, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise database systems to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance. Lead database architecture planning and implementation, including capacity planning, scalability, and disaster recovery strategies. Manage and optimize database performance by proactively monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting issues. Develop and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with organizational guidelines and industry best practices. Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schema, queries, and stored procedures for efficiency and reliability. Implement and maintain database security, including access controls, encryption, and auditing, to protect sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements. Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations as necessary, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations. Conduct regular backups and disaster recovery testing to ensure data integrity and availability. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior DBAs, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team. Stay current with database technology trends and advancements, evaluating and recommending new tools and technologies to enhance database management and performance. Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to support business continuity and resolve complex database-related issues. Qualifications Active DoD Top Secret Clearance at minimum required. Active CompTIA Security + required. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 8+ years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator, with a proven track record in managing large-scale enterprise database systems. In-depth knowledge of database architecture, design, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Experience in implementing and maintaining database security practices and standards. Familiarity with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and experience implementing and maintaining security controls in accordance with DISA requirements. Proficiency in database backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning and execution. Strong understanding of database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions. Ability to automate routine tasks and processes using scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PowerShell, Python). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
