THE POSITION In this role, expert will serve as a RedHat Linux System Administrator responsible for managing the performance and efficiency of multiple Solaris and RHEL operating systems. Duties will include providing Tier II and Tier III IT support, which includes operations and maintenance for MS Windows and UNIX/Linux systems. Additionally, you will support databases such as Oracle, Access, PostGreSQL, and DB2, as well as manage overall system and server functions for global users. RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical Leadership: Provide expert oversight and support for RedHat/Linux systems, including setup, documentation, performance tuning, software installation, and patch management. Team Coordination: Direct system administration functions across teams, ensuring compliance with security protocols and configuration control. System Performance Analysis: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to applications and operating systems, ensuring optimal performance through monitoring and maintenance. Environment Management: Maintain hardware and software for maximum availability, performing necessary updates and repairs outside of business hours when needed. Incident Management: Address and document incidents related to RedHat/Linux systems, developing strategies and standards for system use. Judgment and Planning: Use sound judgment to identify upgrade needs and plan for system enhancements based on customer requirements. System Development: Develop, install, and monitor RedHat/Linux systems, coordinating with teams for upgrades and enhancements. Expert Support: Provide subject matter expertise in systems operations and cybersecurity, ensuring the integrity of production and development environments. Guidance and Training: Evaluate software and procedures, offering recommendations and support to lower-level staff for effective system management. Customer Interaction: Communicate complex technical issues to customers and leadership, fostering partnerships and providing technical direction. Compliance: Adhere to safety and security policies, training, and other assigned duties. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 100% on-site at the Pentagon QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to be Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinated; AND, Highschool diploma; AND, DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT-II) Certification (CompTIA Security+CE); AND, 10 years of information technology experience is in a particular area of expertise such as Information Systems Architecture, Telecommunications Systems Design, Architecture, Implementation, Information Systems Integration, Software Development Methodologies, Security Engineering, Communications or Network Systems Management Equal opportunity employer, including disability/vets.
