Job description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below Collect, synthesize, and analyze information on current humanitarian emergencies and response efforts, and use that information to write, edit, format, obtain clearance for, and disseminate a wide range of internal and external information products. Information products can include BHA fact sheets, internal humanitarian updates, official cables, talking points, briefings, and other correspondence. Work with geospatial analysts and graphic designers to develop analytic and visual information products that support humanitarian response and reporting. Use Excel and financial reporting systems to organize and develop detailed funding charts to include in information products. Serve on Response Management Teams (RMTs) to provide D.C.-based information support to Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DARTs), often requiring fast-paced, after-hours work. Travel internationally on rotations to USAID/BHA regional or country offices for extended periods of time (12 weeks at a time or more). Produce field notes, trip reports, relevant meeting and call notes, updates, public reports, and other information products. Serve on DARTs which may require immediate (within 24 hours) deployment overseas for an extended period of time. During deployment, work is primarily performed in an embassy office setting, but often in countries and regions of the world experiencing disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and active conflict, with limited infrastructure and/or services. Produce relevant meeting and call notes, updates, cables, and other urgent information products. When deployed, in coordination with regional team staff and disaster response team leads, attend meetings and collaborate closely with information counterparts from other USG agencies, the UN, and nongovernmental organizations to ensure that all relevant humanitarian information is obtained and communicated to USAID/BHA staff. Education, Requirements and Qualifications Preferred: MS 2+ of full-time work experience in a related field (international affairs or relations, political science or government, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, public health, emergency management, public policy, humanities, etc.) If your job experience includes internships or part-time work, please indicate the number of hours per week. Individuals who anticipate receiving a Master's degree in the coming months are encouraged to apply. Please indicate the anticipated date of completion of the Master's degree in your resume. Minimum: BS 2+ Years, MS 0+, or HS 6+ Required to have US citizenship and must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance for the duration of employment on this contract. Will be required to pursue a U.S. Department of State medical clearance for the duration of employment on this contract. Must be willing and able to serve on extended international deployments (12 weeks or more at a time) to disaster zones, including conflict-affected areas and austere environments, often on short notice. Other Qualifications and Requirements Must possess excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills and have exceptional attention to detail. Must be able to efficiently track, triangulate, and organize substantial volumes of evolving quantitative and qualitative data to ensure accurate and up-to-date information management. Must be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and have the ability to work under tight deadlines in an extremely fast-paced and collaborative environment. Requires the demonstrated ability to work well with others and meet deadlines in challenging environments. Requires knowledge of and/or interest in humanitarian issues. Foreign language ability and overseas work experience are beneficial to the position but not required. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Lifting in excess of 25 lbs, standing for long periods of time, traveling across base regularly, transporting equipment, etc) Hybrid work environment (virtual and in-person) with the recruitment to be in Washington DC, office three days per week when not deployed.
