Financial Reporting Analyst Systems Definition, Inc., (SDI) located in Alexandria, Virginia just south of 495, is currently seeking to add to its system planning team. We are a growing small business providing software development and technical services to federal agencies, government contractors, public sector agencies, and commercial organizations. Our activities support initiatives for Defense, First Responder safety/accountability, aerospace, custom applications, and web technologies. We have developed innovative software applications to support First Responder safety and accountability activities, including applications used daily by FDNY and other U.S. fire departments. SDI's focus is always on meeting customer requirements to ensure that their goals, deliverables, and deadlines are satisfied. Job Description We are seeking a self-motivated Financial Reporting Analyst to support financial data reporting, accounting, and analysis within a Government research and development domain. We need a person dedicated to developing accurate financial data, providing effective/useful reports, and supporting ad hoc Customer financial reporting needs. If you can communicate well and work methodically, we'd like to meet you. Salary range is $59.3K - $85.0. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is required. The position requires interacting with technical and management personnel to identify needs and to create relevant financial reports quickly and accurately. The candidate should possess knowledge of Excel, basic principles of accounting, data analytics, financial data review, and report creation. The Financial Reporting Analyst will import data from Government financial systems and Contractor systems, refine the data, and compile it into Excel formatted files. Strong proofing capabilities are required to verify numerical accuracy. Typical tasks include:
- Reviewing previous months' financial data for completeness and accuracy
- Identifying inconsistencies in financial data entry and implementing correct accounting entries
- Compiling current reporting month financial data for completeness and accuracy Qualifications A Bachelor Degree, or equivalent, is desired but candidates with accounting/bookkeeping experience without a degree will be considered. Work activities for this position requires on-site presence at our Customer site in Washington, DC and at the SDI-Alexandria facility. The following attributes will lead to success in this position: - Strong Excel capabilities-the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets is fundamental to this position; knowledge of VLOOKUPS and pivot tables a plus
- Strong communications (oral and written) skills and effective checking/proofing capabilities are required for this position
