Description & Requirements Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented CVN Propulsion Engineer to join our team in the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard. Job Summary: This position is in the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). The Propulsion Systems Engineer directly supporting the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Propulsion System Engineering Manager. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ford (CVN 78) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Propulsion System Engineering Manager (SEM) Provide engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz (CVN 68) and/or Ford (CVN 78) technical experience. Provide responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), Liaison Action Request (LAR), Steam Plant Action Request (SPAR), Availability Work Package (AWP) Change Request Participate and coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs) Review Technical Feedback Reports (TFBRs) for Planned Maintenance System (PMS) changes requiring Designated Technical Representative (DTR) review. Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, and other agencies to resolve Propulsion System technical matters. Draft Class advisories for issuance through the Program Office and review In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) and Fleet advisories. Provide technical guidance and/or resolution to actions in the Warfighter Improvement Program (WIP) and the Propulsion Plant Matters (PPM) Review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit proposals for changes Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and; 5+ years of experience with aircraft carrier or submarine Propulsion Systems or; Engineering technician with prior experience as an E-7 and above Good technical writing and communication skills Occasional travel to Newport News, VA to conduct ship visits and participate in meetings is expected in this position Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nuclear, Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, or Systems engineering Graduate Certificate in Nuclear Engineering Experience with Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ford (CVN78) class propulsion systems Worked with or at a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center (NSWC/NUWC), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command (SUPSHIP), Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), and/or Type Commander (TYCOM) supporting construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, and/or repair of shipboard propulsion systems Experience working with technical authority Experience working with program managers in an engineering role Clearance Requirements: Must possess an active or current Secret Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer For all positions requiring access to technology/software source code that is subject to export control laws, employment with the company is contingent on either verifying U.S.-person status or obtaining any necessary license.
