Job description

Duties The selectee will serve as a Counterfeit Systems Specialist in the Office of Investigations, Criminal Investigative Division. Typical work assignments include: Provide technical support of automated database systems to enhance counterfeit reporting operations, and systems. Develop internal controls to provide accountability of counterfeit U.S. obligations and ensure compliance with the Federal Financial Accounting Standards. Verify and document counterfeit notes and assign tracking numbers in an automated tracking system. Complete research to provide analytics, prepare for expert testimony, and participate in training, presentations workshops, professional seminars, and conferences. Review evidence inventories to resolve discrepancies and documents the audit process. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position. Qualifications Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualifications/Specialized Experience requirements as noted below Minimum Qualifications: You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $82,764.00) if you possess one of the following: GS-11: Applicant must possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Monitoring the handling of evidentiary information to maintain integrity; Analyzing counterfeiting research or trends to determine procedures to conduct examinations; and Reviewing automated systems to ensure accurate counterfeit reporting is completed OR Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work. Note: You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) to support your claim. OR Have a combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (beyond 2 years of graduate education), that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement. Note: Only graduate education in excess of two years (generally 36 semester hours) may be used in this calculation. Specialized Experience GS-12: You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $99,200.00) if you possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Performing investigation activities (i.e., evidence management, research, auditing operations, information tracking, conducting analyses, reporting) to assist in criminal investigations; Evaluating investigative information to produce analytics, briefings, testimony, and/or recommendations; and Utilizing automated systems to maintain, analyze, and/or process investigative information.
