Client Details

The Chief Financial Officer is a key Executive leadership role for this Commercial General Contracting Construction company located in the Washington DC Metro area. Typical project sizes for the business are between $30M - $200M. The business has won a whole host of awards and are widely recognized as one of the top construction companies to work for in the DMV region.

Description

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to formulate and implement the organization's strategic vision, offering financial insights that shape business decisions and promote long-term growth.
  • Lead the design and execution of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical processes.
  • Deliver detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, identifying opportunities to reduce costs or increase revenue.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate production of financial statements, reports, and related disclosures.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and mitigate financial risks, including those related to markets, credit, operations, and compliance.
  • Develop and enforce strong risk management policies and controls to protect the company's assets.
  • Oversee cash flow management to fulfill financial commitments and support growth strategies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the finance team is equipped with the skills and resources to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with third-party providers, including banks, legal firms, insurers, auditors, and property managers.
  • Oversee audit processes, including independent audits, workers' compensation, sales tax, and insurance audits.
  • Act as the company's primary financial spokesperson, communicating performance and strategy to partners and stakeholders.
  • Provide clear, actionable financial insights to drive decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to navigate regulatory changes and maintain compliance.
  • Develop an annual operating budget and capital expenditure plan for the organization.

Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Related Degree
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration preferred
  • 15 - 20 + years of Accounting tenure within the Construction Sector
  • 5 + years previous tenure as a Chief Financial Officer
  • Track record at training and developing high performing Finance Functions
  • Demonstrated career track record of implementing strategic financial growth plans for a Construction company with Annual Revenue streams $100M and above
