Job description

Job Type: Regular Position Description The Audiovisual Specialist at RAND will specialize in administering, monitoring, and supporting AV technologies, with a focus on supporting Microsoft Teams Rooms environments, video conferencing (secure and otherwise), and Zoom meeting support for board meetings, conferences, outreach events, staff meetings, and overall user AV support at the Washington, DC office. Working closely with the East Coast AV lead and reporting to the AV technology manager, this individual will oversee the production and support of complex live events and virtual meetings, with a high-level focus on customer service and hospitality. Duties Support users in a research environment with Microsoft Teams Rooms, and standard AV meeting support which could include various other UCC engines and presentation programs.
Collaborate with local and remote AV technicians and other departments within the RAND organization to produce high-quality on-site and multi-site, in-person and virtual, conferences and events.
Troubleshoot issues with AV equipment to ensure seamless integration with Microsoft Teams Rooms and users' experiences and expectations.
Set up, monitor, and support virtual calls, including managing breakout rooms, rehearsals, and webinar functionalities as required.
Support a wide array of AV equipment/services including secure video conferencing systems, rear projection displays, LED displays, distributed and advanced audio systems features, wireless microphone arrays, PTZ cameras, and lighting control systems.
Conduct rigorous system testing and ensure stringent quality control measures are met with documentation.
Maintain comprehensive AV equipment inventory and detailed service maintenance logs, in addition to, proper disposal and recycling of unneeded gear.
Efficiently deliver, set up and dismantle event equipment and furniture, including easels, flipcharts, backdrops, podiums, power supplies, and cable runs.
Stay abreast of cutting-edge AV technologies, evaluate the appropriateness of technology solutions, and recommend upgrades as needed.
Maintain and optimize schedules for meetings and events, ensuring efficient utilization of AV resources. Qualifications AVIXA CTS certification required; candidates without certification must obtain it within 1 year of hiring.
Strong experience with streaming, specifically over UCC platforms like Teams and Zoom.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to folks with varying degrees of technical understanding.
Excellent technical coaching and teaching abilities.
Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting AV hardware from industry-leading manufacturers such as Biamp, Poly, Crestron, Extron, Cisco, Logitech, AVer, Shure, etc.
Proficiency in Networking for AV guidelines and practices.
Advanced knowledge of video shooting techniques, image framing principles, and posting for distribution or further editing by others.
Proficient in Office 365, (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Visio for AV-related tasks.
Advanced familiarity with both MS Windows and Mac OS environments, as well as both iOS and Android mobile operating systems for seamless integration with AV technologies.
The ability to acquire and maintain a government security clearance.
Strong customer service orientation with a focus on delivering exceptional support experiences.
Physical capability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Some flexibility to work non-standard hours to support event and client needs.
Willingness to travel (5%-10%) to other RAND offices as required.
Ability to stand for extended periods during event setup and support activities. Experience Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience required; 6 years preferred.
At least 2 years of hands-on experience in managing and supporting virtual meetings with Teams, Zoom, etc., including troubleshooting Windows and Mac OS related to AV and networking issues, and familiarity with Dante and other digital audio/visual distribution methods. Education High school diploma or equivalent required.
Higher education degree in communications, technology, video production, or related field preferred.
Additional AV training and certifications from AVIXA, Crestron, Extron, AQAV, and other manufacturers highly advantageous. Security clearance Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship. Location Washington, D.C. Salary Range: $55,900 - $83,200 RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity.This position is overtime eligible.
