Job description

Duties You will serve as the Pilot in command (PIC) of a high performance/complex aircraft that has been modified to conduct surveillance operations. You will plan and coordinate flight operations with senior management and air traffic control facilities. You will deliver clear concise accurate information to the air crew and ground surveillance personnel during flight operations. You will remain current on laws and regulations pertaining to airborne law enforcement operations. You will prepare a myriad of reports ensuring all products are grammatically correct, precise and clear. Clear communication both oral and written. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one-year specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following Minimum Qualification 1- FAA commercial or Airline Transport Pilot's license 2- Instrument Rating 3- 2000 total flight time in Airplane-land category 4- 500 total time in make and model King Air 200/350 5- FAA first or second class medical certificate Applicants must demonstrate each of the six competencies listed below: 1- Situational Awareness - having an awareness and understanding of all the relevant information available and be a good judge of what to anticipate/how to respond. 2- Teamwork - expected to understand each of the crew's roles, anticipate their needs and work as a team to ensure safety procedures are carried out. 3- Application of Procedures - demonstrate an understanding of procedures relating to aircraft safety (including identifying the source of operating instructions), aircraft systems, controls, and instruments. 4- Knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures, aerodynamics, flying fundamentals, aircraft instrumentation, ground and flight emergency procedures, and instrument and visual flight rules. 5- Workload management - manages available resources efficiently to prioritize and perform tasks in a timely manner under all circumstances. 6- Problem Solving and Decision Making - accurately identifies risks and resolves problems. Uses the appropriate decision-making processes. Additional information The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) mission is to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats to the United States Navy and Marine Corps-ashore, afloat, and in cyberspace. NCIS is seeking an Airplane Pilot (Surveillance) to support the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Office of Special Projects (OSP). OSP is responsible for providing centralized direction, policy, standard and procedures for the conduct of sensitive complex, counterintelligence (CI) investigations and operations by all NCIS field components. These investigations include but are not limited to espionage, compromise, unauthorized disclosure, and technology transfer. The position described will be assigned to the NCIS, OSP Special Surveillance Team (SST), Aviation Unit. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
