About this position:
To manage and lead the strategic direction of the IT Strategic Imperatives program and other programs as assigned. Drive the coordination of the daily program activities and the projects and work initiatives included in the program's scope to ensure the common objectives of the program are met. Works with constituent Project Managers (who are responsible to the program manager for the execution of their projects and its impact on the program) to monitor cost, schedule, and technical performance of component projects and operations, while working to ensure the ultimate success of the program. Serves as the point of contact for both internal customers and vendors, as well as interacts with senior managers, executives, and major stakeholders to establish strategic plans and objectives for directing the program.
Responsible for staff management of Project Managers and Senior Project Managers; this includes but is not limited to performance management; annual performance administration activities; coaching, developing, empowering, and directing the team.
Responsible for assuring the adherence to the Project Management Framework and Methodologies in partnership with Application Services, Infrastructure Services and other IT and Business Stakeholders to ensure the appropriate levels of project management maturity are being applied based on the level of the project with regard to priority, complexity and organizational impact.
Responsible to assure project resources track and forecast project financials to include resource utilization for each project; they will assure that project gates are completed with due diligence and completeness with focus on quality and the ability to meet any audit requirements.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
Manages large teams, or multiple smaller teams, of individuals, staff, and leaders, including managing recruitment, retention, staffing plans, performance accountability, and annual performance management reviews.
Ensures teams work cross-functionally to ensure solutions are strictly aligned with business goals and priorities, people, process, and technology.
Helps to resolve barriers and conflicts (resource, timing, financial, sequencing) between multiple projects and project teams. Resolves issues before they become barriers to successful project implementations.
Develops and maintains effective lines of communication and relationships with IT leaders and staff, and appropriate CCHS leaders and staff to ensure IT department is delivering effective and efficient projects and services.
Provides and presents organizational communication and education related to the areas of responsibility. Ensures communications are consistent and coordinated.
Leads organizational and departmental performance improvement activities.
Works with program leadership to develop and manage a dedicated, agile, and dynamic team within the Department of Information Technology, focused on the design and execution of transformative solutions that help actualize the strategic imperatives and digital/virtual strategy of ChristianaCare.
Develops and manages budget for areas of responsibility.
Manages vendor relationships within areas of responsibility.
Identifies and pursues opportunities for continuing professional development to increase understanding of assigned areas, information technology direction, and healthcare direction.
Provides intake mechanism for organizational ideas and leads the champion/sponsor through the initial stages of the project management methodology, to position the project for approval, and coordinate the resource assignments with the related strategic imperatives IT resource managers.
Works closely with champions, sponsors, collaborators, and IT staff to create strategy, approach, sequencing, and timeline for projects and programs, focusing on clinical/business process improvements.
Survey, seek, evaluate, recommend, and define implementation for emerging technologies aligned with business needs.
Assist with development of program roadmap.
Prepares for, coordinates, and chairs the project/program advisory, decision-making, and steering committees, including an emphasis on a multi-disciplinary approach.
Determines and coordinates the resources among the constituent projects to the overall benefit of the program.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Education and experience requirements:
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related area or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred.
PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification (preferred).
Ten (10+) years of directly related professional experience demonstrating advanced competency in some combination of the following:
Project Management of large-scale projects or programs: Managing complex technology projects with multiple work streams in a cross functional and highly matrix organization. Managing application and infrastructure release and change management.
Project Management tools (PPM) and processes: Project Scheduling; Risk Management; Issue Management; Resource Management Quality Management; Scope Management; Project Reporting; Communication Management; Financial Management
Demonstrated knowledge of the System Development Lifecycle (SLDC). Demonstrated knowledge of multiple methodologies (Waterfall, AGILE). Demonstrated knowledge of managing vendor delivery/vendor management.
Demonstrated expertise in managing teams directly of 7 or more direct reports.
Must be able to secure Epic certification.
Demonstrated knowledge of the System Development Lifecycle (SLDC).
Demonstrated knowledge of multiple methodologies (Waterfall, AGILE).
Content rich project management experience.
Epic experience preferred.
