Job description

Duties You will provide expertise and guidance on culture and climate management and program development to attract and retain multicultural cadets, faculty, and staff. You will also help partner with area colleges and universities, local high schools, and community organizations to design and carry out the strategic culture and climate goals, metrics, and objectives for the Academy. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Developing knowledge and understanding of the recruitment, retention, and outreach programs across all Academy domains for the purpose of developing and updating a climate management balanced scorecard (aka climate audit) which is critical to the Academy's stated goal of creating a community of belonging. Liaises with Institutional Research and other stakeholders to provide outcomes data through use of the Academy's outcomes output data tool. Developing and carrying out initiatives that will make the Academy a desirable place for all individuals and all identities to work and develop professionally. Serves as an CC Staff liaison to the Admissions Outreach Team to ensure alignment to initiatives. Assisting the Chief of Culture and Climate Staff in monitoring and implementing the Coast Guards Academy's diversity strategy of creating a community of belonging through creation of a climate audit and monitors metrics to assist Senior Management officials in implementing the strategic goals of the strategic plan. Keeping current with all changes to government regulations, laws, directives, circulars, policies, and procedures that impact, assigned areas. Maintains an understanding of ongoing efforts and changes of mission within the Academy and other related Coast Guard activities. Providing support for the Office's informational and inter-relational databases and website to include website/databases for such activities as cadet, faculty, and staff recruitment, mentoring and CC Staff summer programs. Incumbent will directly liaison with Admissions on key programs that include Genesis, AIM, Summer Orientation Experience and Eclipse. Representing CC Staff on Admission's cadet candidate evaluation boards (CCEB) Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. Qualifications Qualifications for GS-12: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples include: Applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of an educational program; application of pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources in a STEM educational program; knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the organization; adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity; conducting detailed analysis of complex functions and work process; or presenting recommendations and negotiating solutions to disputed recommendations. Knowledge or working with students on retention; experience developing, running, and assessing programs designed to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
