Director of Finance

Location: East Hampton, CT
Job Type: Full-Time, 40 hours
Compensation: Starting at 90K

The Director of Finance will be responsible for managing all financial aspects including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, and auditing. As a key member of the leadership team, the Director of Finance will play a critical role in ensuring sound fiscal management and compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking financial leader with strong experience in public sector finance.

Key Responsibilities of the Director of Finance:

  • Oversee the preparation of the annual budget, including forecasting, revenue projections, and expenditure plans.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making
  • Manage and ensure the accuracy of all financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the preparation for and coordination of external audits.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance, professional development, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of capital improvement projects, including funding, financing, and monitoring

Preferred Qualifications of the Director of Finance Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in public sector finance
  • In-depth knowledge of municipal finance, governmental accounting, budgeting, and reporting standards (preferred).
