Job Title: Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist
Location: Branford, CT - onsite

Job Summary:

The AR Specialist will be responsible for managing the organization's accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely recording of donations, grants, and other income streams. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a dedication to supporting the financial sustainability of our client.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process and record donations, grants, and other forms of income into the accounting system.
  • Generate and send invoices for program fees, services, and pledges.
  • Monitor incoming payments and follow up on outstanding balances in a respectful and mission-aligned manner.
  • Reconcile AR ledger with the general ledger and bank statements on a regular basis.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual AR reports for management and audit purposes.
  • Collaborate with the fundraising and development teams to ensure proper documentation of contributions.
  • Assist in annual financial audits, particularly in relation to receivables.
  • Maintain and organize financial records in compliance with accounting policies and nonprofit standards.
  • Support in implementing efficient AR policies and procedures to enhance financial tracking and transparency.
  • Engage with donors and partners professionally to ensure accurate documentation and acknowledgment of contributions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Previous experience in accounts receivable or a similar role; experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
