This entry-level, project designated position provides paraprofessional supportive services to the two full-time Chafee workers and program clients served through the Chafee Foster Care Independence Program. Primary responsibilities include co-facilitating Life Skills and After Care groups, leading a Socialization group, supervising work experience youth and providing individual services to Chafee clients. Varying shifts up to 29.75 hours per week.This position reports to the Community Services Unit Supervisor. This position is a part-time, project designated position. Continuation of this position after one year from the start date is contingent on continuing availability of funds. Complete monthly Basic Life Skills newsletter and annual program newsletter Assist with clerical duties within the office (filing, entering notes into Trails system, updating records into Mango system, supply and incentive inventory, etc.) Preparing for and co-facilitating youth groups when in session Assisting with preparations for youth socialization and experiential activities Direct services to youth Ability for organization and time management in completing daily tasks, meeting deadlines and keeping appointments/meetings. Knowledge of computer skills to utilize MS word, excel, and other computer applications and data bases, send updates/notes to workers and placement staff, maintain contact with collateral, conduct internet searches for information, resources, college apps/scholarship searches, etc. Required to assist with monthly fiscal tracking through Excel spreadsheets. Develop a yearly newsletter using Canva. Ability to establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Demonstrate a genuine interest in working with adolescents and previous experience in dealing with youth ages 14-23. High amount of client contact and documentation of those contacts in the state Trails system. Responsibilities may include: co-facilitating skills groups; maintaining program records and inventory; utilizing social media to communicate with clients; resource development with community collaterals; assisting youth with job, housing, public assistance and scholarship searches/applications; and other relevant tasks that may be necessary and beneficial to clients. Communicates clearly, effectively and accurately, both orally and in writing. Other clerical duties as assigned. Experience: Two years of experience in an extensive public contact environment, including one year of experience working with youth and adolescents. Education and Training: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. License or Certificate: Possession of a valid Driver's License and proof of automotive insurance. Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check Other: Ability to work in a standard office environment. Ability to utilize personal vehicle or other mode of transportation to transport adult and child clients in all types of weather. Ability to lift and carry 1-50 lbs. such as infants and small children in the care and custody of the County, as well as case files and client's personal belonging going to storage or another location.
