EIC SME Job Summary

Our client, a leader in engineering consulting providing best-in-class services for the oil & gas industry, seeks an EIC subject matter expert (SME) to work on skid-mounted air compressors. He/she will create solutions for market needs, provide detailed design for the electrical, controls and instrumentation for the skids, material lists for cost estimates, specifications for control system hardware, pneumatic and mechanical hardware, programming and control narratives, control network drawings, instrument index and I/O Lists, instrument datasheets and other construction documents. Candidates should also have some experience in the field, troubleshooting equipment and finding solutions for customers.

EIC SME Job Responsibilities
The EIC Engineer will be responsible for creating design documents, hands on assembly and troubleshooting for multiple projects including, but not limited to:

  • Being the lead SME on effort to design, build and field troubleshoot air compressor skidded packages
  • Interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's)
  • Strong ability to understand and integrate electrical parts into a mechanical system
  • Familiarity with control networking (Modbus, ControlNet, ProfiBus, Foundation Fieldbus, Fault Tolerant Ethernet), and system programming for Allen Bradley PLCs is preferred
  • Control philosophy and control narratives
  • Control system and programming specifications
  • Manufacturing or assembly experience
  • Understand and implement solar power for DC powered compressor systems
  • Understand and implement battery charging and storage for the skids
  • Instrument Index and I/O List
  • Instrument and electrical component selection; Sizing wire and electrical components
  • Cause and effect diagrams
  • QA/QC of engineering and design documents and drawings
  • Perform checkout of controls and instruments on newly completed skids, in preparation for shipping
  • Provide weekly project updates management
  • Being able to trouble shoot remotely and on site; answer customer's questions
  • Some field travel required (25% to locations in the mid-continent area)

EIC SME Position Requirements

  • Lead EI&C SME or Engineer with automation and industrial power experience.
  • Strong background/experience with responsibilities mentioned above
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management
  • Ability to work on various projects, independently or with groups and managers
  • Ability to manage schedules and understand budgets
