Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Engineer

Job Description:

As a VDC Engineer you will play a pivotal role in integrating virtual design and construction technologies to enhance the planning, coordination, and execution of our commercial construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure that our projects are delivered with precision, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and manage 3D models for commercial construction projects using industry-leading software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD).
  • Coordinate and integrate building information modeling (BIM) processes into the project lifecycle, from design through construction.
  • Conduct clash detection and resolve conflicts between architectural, structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to review and optimize construction sequencing and logistics using 4D simulation.
  • Provide technical support and training to project teams on VDC/BIM tools and methodologies.
  • Participate in project meetings to present VDC models and provide insights on constructability, scheduling, and cost implications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in VDC and BIM technologies.
  • Assist in the development of VDC standards, templates, and workflows for the company.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in VDC/BIM within the commercial construction industry.
  • Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD; experience with 4D/5D simulation tools is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and materials.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
