Job description
Summary of Major Functions:
Provides general psychiatric services to patients accepted into treatment at EDCare. Provide psychiatric services that are consistent with highest standards of professional psychiatry practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Psychiatric Coverage
Provides knowledgeable and thorough psychiatric/medical coverage to all patients accepted for treatment at EDCare.
Interfaces effectively and timely with clinical personnel.
Is available to staff and treatment teams for questions, communications and emergencies.
Available to the Admissions Assessment Clinicians for new admissions for psychiatric/ medical assessments.
Coordinates psychiatry coverage with other EDCare psychiatric Providers to ensure appropriate clinical coverage of EDCare services.
Provide on-call coverage for EDCare programs, if applicable.
Psycho-Pharmacology
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of appropriate psychotropic medications.
Provides patient education regarding side-effects and efficacy.
Regularly monitors prescribed medications for assigned patients (minimum of every 3 months).
PHP, EIOP, IOP & Outpatient Psychiatry
Demonstrates ability to provide comprehensive and ongoing assessment resulting in appropriate treatment and timely discharge.
Coordinates medical care with all Licensed Independent Practitioners inside and outside of EDCare.
Makes referrals to other providers/resources as indicated, including individual therapist, nutritionist, PCP, Family therapist, group, etc.
Creates an individualized psychiatric treatment plan with appropriate outpatient goals and objectives.
Demonstrates knowledge of and practice of clinical interviewing/counseling skills (Individual, Couples and Families).
Demonstrates ability to build therapeutic rapport.
Facilitates groups with expertise, demonstrating ability to engage, set limits and monitor the group process.
Is creative in therapeutic interventions to include homework assignments, community resources, etc.
Timely completion and accuracy of clinical paperwork: treatment plan, progress notes, etc.
Coordinates with other EDCare clinical staff the disposition of all EDCare patients.
Maintains relationships and professional credentialing with provider panels.
Conducts UR in a timely fashion to ensure appropriate level of treatment.
Complies with all EDCare policies and procedures.
Complies with all regulatory and accreditations standards applicable to EDCare.
Completes billing records daily for finance office.
Other job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Advanced Practice Registration (APN) in the state of practice within 60 days of hire.
Possess RXN prescriptive authority & DEA within 60 days of hire.
Obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at EDCare.
Experience treating patients with eating disorders preferred.
Computer Skills:
Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.
Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within various software products.
Physical Demands and Environment:
Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking frequently, hearing frequently, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using fingers to operate computer keyboard. This position requires lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally.
Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to:
99% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.
