Floating Special Education Teacher - 2024/25 School Year

Hiring multiple candidates, Easy Apply, Full Time

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Douglas County, CO. This is a full-time role supporting special education needs across various schools serving multiple locations. This teacher should be flexible with the ability to travel independently between school campuses.

This is a unique opportunity to build experience in diverse Special Education settings, build relationships with many students, and work with collaborative Sped teams. The Special Education Teacher will create and implement IEPs for students with diverse learning needs. This role comes with a competitive daily rate starting at $170 per day paid weekly.This role will be approximately 7am to 3pm daily, with a 30-minute lunch break.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders. This role requires a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student with disabilities.
  • Design and adapt instructional materials, strategies, and assessments to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to facilitate inclusive classroom environments and promote the academic and social growth of students with disabilities.
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and regularly assess the effectiveness of instructional interventions and accommodations.
  • Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, social skills, and other areas as specified in students' IEPs.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and guardians through open communication, collaboration, and regular progress updates.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, behavior, and academic performance in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in individualized education program (IEP) meetings, team meetings, and professional development activities to support continuous improvement and best practices in special education.
  • Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in special education, and incorporate evidence-based strategies into instructional practices.
  • Uphold professional standards and ethical guidelines as outlined by state licensure and certification requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass a Fingerprint Background Check
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid state teaching license or certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Passion for supporting young people with additional needs
