Job Title: Systems Safety Engineer Location: Colorado Springs, CO Clearance: Secret or higher Pay: $120k-165k-Two levels to fill Formal Job Description: Job Title: System and Software Safety Engineer Career Level: We have two levels to fill- Bachelor's Degree in Science/Engineering or related field with a minimum of 10 years' experience OR Master's Degree in Science/Engineering or related field with a minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible roles in the development and integration of large-scale Command & Control, and Battle Management Systems. Advanced degree and 3+ years' experience OR bachelors with 5+ years' experience or equivalent; wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in their field and provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with imaginative and thorough solutions; works under general direction, and results are reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives; failure to achieve results normally results in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources; frequent internal and external customer contacts and represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. Required Qualifications: System Engineering background with specialization in System and Software Safety.
Experience analyzing design to ensure safety requirements are met.
Ability to apply engineering principles to analyze and recommend design features that meet safety criteria in system design to control or eliminate hazards.
Experience developing safety documents to support customer and test requirements (SAR, SRA, SSPP).
Experience with hazard identification.
Experience participating in System Safety Working Groups.
Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E.
System engineering and software systems engineering experience in developing new and integrating existing systems.
Ability to analyze high-level needs and refine them into an integrated set of hardware and software.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
Final SECRET clearance required; TS clearance desired.
Ability to get TS/SCI Clearance.
Skills Required: Identification and definition of desired capabilities.
Modeling the interrelationships between internal and external components.
Communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.
Generating system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities.
In-depth knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, and techniques.
Responsibilities: System Safety engineering and development of program safety plans to provide the engineering team with application of safety policies and guidance.
Support to MDA and other program personnel as required, as well as other system engineering tasks.
Interface with team members and National Team management to ensure high-quality products are generated on time and within available resources.
Integration of product lines (BM, C2, Networks).
Generation of responsible sections of the capability specifications.
Training less experienced personnel in SE and Safety techniques.
Reviewing the content and details of technical products.
Acting as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts on an as-required basis.
Independently complete Safety analysis including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), and support incorporating updates into existing Safety Analysis Reports (SARs).
Support System Safety Requirements Analysis, including customer coordination for safety impact and safety criticality for all requirements.
Heavily integrated in the I&T process to ensure all Safety Critical DTAPS stay on schedule and support both internally for C2BMC Safety Team and the customer, BCQS reviews.
