Job description

Blackstone Talent Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency is seeking a Red Hat Systems Admin to join our Client's team. Description of Duties: The Red Hat Enterprise Linux System Admin supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and
Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
Provide engineering, and technical direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and
implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical requirements
Makes recommendations and advises on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts
Performs risk assessments and analysis employing modeling and simulation techniques
Collaborate on solutions to difficult problems
Generate and apply concepts as evidenced by product or process improvement
Use engineering/scientific tools to integrate requirements and solve technical problems
Utilize tools, techniques, processes and/or facilities such as state-of-the-art simulation environments, laboratories, and test facilities
Participate in engineering team activities in a specialized engineering or technology subject area
Contribute to the technical planning process and provides technical guidance.
Provide technical support to customers including basic inquiries, basic troubleshooting, break/fix needs, and touch maintenance at Tier 1 through hands on application, remote administrative tools or verbal guidance
Create and execute break/fix tickets for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 needs
Support the testing and installation of system patches
Support hardware disposition needs on assets like sanitization facilitation, excessing old or no longer needed assets, or CD and hard drive destruction when necessary
Be accountable for maintaining accurate inventory and stock planning
Be accountable for the maintenance and management of the queue of incident requests (IRs) and change requests
(CRQs)
Be adaptable to new technologies, new situations, and short deadlines
Support and respond to customer requirements identified by executing daily walks and check-ins
Have the ability to lift a minimum of 35 lbs, as well as being able to, for extended periods, be sitting, walking, standing, or crawling under desks
The successful candidate will: Be available to support a variety of tasks/roles, including but not limited to: IT Help Desk functions, coordinating break/fix and customer needs through various channels
Be adaptable to new technologies, new situations, and short deadlines
Be able to work unsupervised and have a strong commitment to a team environment

Be able to communicate effectively with the various teams and/or customers on efforts as necessary

Basic Requirements: Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 2 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 0 years of general experience
Must have 2.5 years of directly related experience in relevant business systems, operating systems, and servers and/or experience in programming, and troubleshooting
Must have a DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE or higher
Must have working experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Must have, or be able to obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Familiarity with obtaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux updated rpms and installing them.
Understanding of RHEL licensing and provisioning of their subscriptions.
Experience with storage devices and mounting storage from various other systems.
Ability to work from a command line prompt, use the visual interface editor, and logging into systems remotely.
Experience with bash scripting
Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
Must have a valid passport or be able to obtain one within 6 months of hire
Desired Requirements: Have a Linux certification
Have experience with Microsoft Office tools
Have experience with Microsoft Windows
Have experience with Active Directory
Have an understanding of Group Policies, DHCP, and DNS
Ansible experience
Have experience administering a Red Hat Linux environment
Have Linux command line experience
Have experience with writing tests to verify functionality and requirements
Have experience with Bash scripting
Have experience writing and executing Ansible playbooks
Have experience conducting log analysis
Have knowledge of VMware environments
Recent MDA and/or space experience
