Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as aCommunications Engineer 4 to work out of Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado supporting the 392d Combat Training Squadron (392 CTS). PAY: $120,000 - $140,000 JOB SUMMARY: The 392 CTS provides space modeling and simulation (M&S) systems capabilities in support of advanced training, demonstrations, special event assessments, exercises, wargames and real-world contingency operations through a robust Command, Control, Computer, and Communications (C4I) architecture. The Communications Engineer will provide detailed system expertise, and continuous oversight and management of all aspects of the 392 CTS C4I architecture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Configure and align IBS ENTR RF radio systems to receive Integrated Broadcast Service messages, build and configure Tactical Receive Suite inputs and outputs, and determine best dissemination method of IBS inject paths.
Configure Joint Data Translator inputs/outputs, select correct data format and adjust message format to exercise requirements within the JDT.
Build and configure Joint Range Extender inputs and outputs and configure data feeds to be disseminated at distant exercise locations.
Provide technical direction and engineering knowledge for communications activities, including support to systems analysis, planning, designing, developing, testing, installing, maintaining, sustaining, and upgrading 392 CTS RF and communication networks in support of advanced training, special event assessments, exercises, and real-world contingency operations.
Develop and review 392 CTS communication system requirements; compare potential needs with existing infrastructure; identify shortfalls and excesses; integrate communication systems to achieve interoperability; and establish continuity procedures and a reference library of pertinent policies, procedures, documents, and architectures to sustain current capabilities and plan for future 392 CTS communication systems.
Evaluate operating systems and protocol suites; configure/update systems with exercise parameters; and configure communication systems, voice, and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.
Resolve interoperability problems to ensure operations across all required platforms
Provide onsite comm support for the GPS Environment Generator (GEG) system testing, scenario development, event planning, and execution.
Provide engineering support to develop systems to exploit commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government off-the-shelf (GOTS) communication systems (RF, LANs, encryption devices) and emerging technologies to improve 392 CTS capabilities.
Coordinate with the Government to engineer, purchase, install, integrate, and support specific communication hardware/software and/or leased communication links to meet 392 CTS customer requirements.
Provide analysis to translate operational-level training requirements into recommended technical approaches to satisfy DMO-S requirements.
Provide necessary daily support to set up, tear down, integrate, test, operate, and troubleshoot 392 CTS equipment and infrastructure supporting exercises, experiments, demonstrations, and training.
Establish liaisons and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs, accommodate data collection, obtain Government off-the-shelf (GOTS) technologies, and leverage best practices, procedures, and techniques.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ten years operational RF communications, satellite ground station experience, or equivalent
Experience with DMO capabilities
Possess excellent technical writing and verbal skills
Self-motivated and detail-oriented
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Possess strong leadership, customer service and interaction, negotiation, problem solving, risk analysis, and team building skills
Ability to meet strict deadlines, prioritize work, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously without supervision
Ability to work in stressful and high-pressure situations
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Visio, and Outlook)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with AF Tactical Receive Suite (including antenna alignment and RF troubleshooting) and Joint Data Translator configuration
Experience with coordinating and processing requests for authorization to utilize both production and dissemination through the Integrated Broadcast Service (IBS)
Experience troubleshooting data flow for DMO systems and Common Operating Picture (COPs) including Missile Defense Space-Warning Tool (MDST), Automated Scriptor Simulator Exercise Trainer (ASSET), Processing Display System-Migration (PDS-M), TRS-Dashboard, Space-Based Infrared System Standard Space Trainer (SBIRS SST), GPS Environment Generator (GEG), Joint Range Extender (JRE), etc.
Experience with troubleshooting data flow and system issues using Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High-Level Architecture (HLA) protocols
Current or previous experience (within the last 5 years) planning, developing, coordinating and executing system and communication link design to include data flow from producer to Common Operating Picture (COP) for United States Space Force (USSF) or other Services participation in Command, Service, Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and Combatant Commander (CCMD) operations, exercises, demonstrations, and experiments.
Prior experience as an Air Force RF Technician, Naval Electronics Technician, or Marine Signals Intelligence.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent service experience) in Electronics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific or technical discipline preferred.
Candidate must possess the Security+ Certification or be able to obtain such certification within 6 months of hire date.
