Overview:

Responsibilities:
Conduct outreach and provide HIV health education, counseling and testing services

Work with individuals to assess individual risk and needs, enrolling those appropriate into an individualized risk reduction program

Internal and external program reporting

Oversee completion of program objectives and recommend changes in scope as needed

Serve as liaison and assist with collaborative support activities with community agencies, local government representatives and other VCC project staff

Qualifications:
Minimum

High school diploma or equivalent with four years of experience in community education and/or direct patient services

Valid California driver's license, current vehicle insurance and reliable transportation

Bilingual English/Spanish

Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Preferred

B.A./B.S. degree or A.A. degree with 2 years of experience in community education

Experience assisting clients in social services and health care access; knowledge and experience providing HIV/AIDS education and information

Working knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to HIV disease

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Knowledge of HIV-related social and emotional issues, demonstrated competency in working with culturally diverse, low income or no income clients

Preferred skills include demonstrated competency working with LGBTQ, persons in recovery, homeless individuals, and other marginalized populations

Ability to present information accurately and effectively both verbally and in writing to individuals and groups

Good verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, providers and other staff

Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail communication systems and internet search capabilities

Pay Range

$21.00 - $23.00
