Job description
Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Duties You will maintain Central Heat and Power Plant (CHPP) and remote boilers. Systems include gas turbine, generators, control air systems, and associated equipment throughout the system. You will perform operational tests of systems and components to ensure proper function and identify/correct deficiencies. You will implement a gage calibration program that tracks calibration for all equipment needing calibration. You will maintain and operate Energy Management Control Systems controls (EMCS) using approved software in operation of Gas Turbine generator, chilled water system, and electrical distribution system and boilers. You will calibrate and adjust electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic controls to maintain safe and efficient equipment operation. You will perform micro-miniature electronic repair on circuit cards and components. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform common tasks including maintaining and operating control systems for utility equipment and using a variety of hand and power tools, computers and computer software, electrical and electromechanical test, diagnostic and measurement equipment, while applying knowledge of safety regulations, procedures and safety equipment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Work requires moderate physical effort. Frequently lifting or handling materials weighing up to 40 pounds is required. Occasionally lifting items greater than 40 pounds is necessary. Assistance is usually available with lifting heavy materials. Working in awkward or uncomfortable positions is sometimes unavoidable. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required.
Occasional climbing or working in high places may occur. Work is usually performed inside well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. When equipment is fixed in place, it is sometimes necessary to work while being exposed to loud noises, high heat, cold, fumes, or other hazardous conditions.
Workers are subject to injuries, such as electrical shock, cuts, or bruises as well as bums. Working in cramped positions, or near energized circuits or rotating machinery may be required.
The applicant/incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a "Favorably Adjudicated" Tier 3 (T3) with Secret Security Eligibility. This requires submitting a Tier 3 Reinvestigation (T3R) every ten years. Failure to successfully meet the Secret Security Clearance eligibility requirement is grounds for removal.
