Job Summary Job Summary Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties in the maintenance of school grounds and landscaped areas. This is the entry level for the job class and the work assigned the incumbent to perform is at the apprentice level of gardening work. View Job Description Requirements / Qualifications Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties in the maintenance of school grounds and landscaped areas. This is the entry level for the job class and the work assigned the incumbent to perform is at the apprentice level of gardening work. 1. Responsible for the upkeep of landscaping including but not limited to lawns, shrubs, trees, planting areas, fields, and any other type of landscaping. 2. Mows, trims and edges lawns. Trims around benches, backstops, poles, fences, and all other items and areas when mowing equipment cannot reach. 3. Prepares grounds for planting or reseeding including raking, weed removal, earthmoving, seeding, fertilizing, and any other type of ground preparation as required. 4. Plants and transplants trees, shrubs, and other decorative plants. 5. Trims trees up six feet above the ground and trims shrubs, bushes and other decorative plants. 6. Collects and removes all plant debris from site and disposes of debris in proper manner. 7. Cleans walkways, sidewalks, play courts, and other areas with blower. 8. Operates various landscaping equipment including riding and push power mowers, gas trimmers, chainsaws, edger, sod cutter, hedge trimmer, and other equipment as required. 9. Operates motor vehicles/equipment including truck, tractor, pull trailer, or other vehicles. 10. Maintain groundskeeping equipment, transport a variety of tools and supplies required at job sites.
