Job Type: Regular Position Description RAND is seeking an experienced diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practitioner for this DEI Manager opportunity. This position supports a unique and vibrant community of highly talented research and professional staff who are committed to RAND's mission to help improve policy and decision-making through research and analysis. DEI are key strategic priorities at RAND; advancement of DEI is a shared responsibility across the organization and extends to RAND's research activities.
This role will be focused on the efforts related to promoting DEI across RAND and building a more fair, equitable and inclusive organization. In addition, the positionwill lead, support, and implement operational activities and initiatives related to our multi-faceted portfolio of DEI programs and initiatives.
The DEI manager will leverage their knowledge and experience supporting DEI workplace efforts and serve as a critical point of coordination and project management. This position reports to the Chief Diversity Officer and will work on projects that directly impact teams across the organization. Duties and Responsibilities DEI Strategy and Implementation Operationalizing strategy, policies, and initiatives.
Implement RAND's DE&I strategy, working directly with Chief Diversity Officer and Employee Resource Group (ERG) chairs on the execution of action items and provides support and oversight of various efforts.
Lead and support complex initiatives, manage deadlines, and communicate clearly and effectively. DEI Programs and Projects Lead and contribute to a variety of DEI projects, including but not limited to recruiting-related initiatives, skills building and professional development opportunities, and DEI communications.
Manage organization-wide DEI programs to enhance the organization's understanding of DEI, promoting a culture of inclusion and belonging. Identify and research innovative programs and facilitators to advance inclusion, talent development and inclusive leadership.
Provide ongoing guidance and support to RAND's ERGs to support and facilitate advancement of their goals and serve as regular point of contact to coordinate collaborative efforts across ERGS and other parts of RAND; coordinate with finance to manage ERG budgets.
Enhance employee learning experiences and foster cultural awareness through planning, coordinating, and facilitating events and programs in partnership with RAND's ERGs and other staff groups. Promote DEIawareness and facilitate learningacross the organization. Educational Initiatives Manage DEI education programs and keynote presentations to include sourcing and vetting presenters and speakers.
Coordinate with HR to present DEI overview at new employee orientation, refreshing content as needed.
Preparing presentations on DEI-related topics for an internal audience. Data Analysis and Reporting Manage the collection, presentation, and analysis of demographic data, providing insights and recommendations to inform decision making related to trends and progress of RAND's DEI efforts. Collaborating with HR to update demographic data dashboards and conduct trend analyses on demographics. Must have experience analyzing demographic data and reporting on demographic trends, as well as benchmarking to industry standards.
Establish metrics and tracking mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives and programs. Prepare reports for CDO and ERG leaders to propose recommendations on areas for growth and engagement. Best Practices and External Recognition Serve as a resource for DEI best practices and data analytics. Stay abreast of key trends and practices in DEI and serve as project lead for external workplace and DEI recognition programs. Confer with HR and other functional leaders to incorporate and integrate toolkits, guidance materials and other resources to advance DEI and inclusion. Lead and participate in specific benchmarking efforts. Qualifications : Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to leverage influence and address challenging and often sensitive topics with broad-based audiences of all levels.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion principles and workplace practices.
Proven project management skills and a strong track record of execution and the ability to navigate multiple priorities is critical.
Experience operationalizing DEI strategies and developing tangible action plans, and coordinating follow through with program/project implementation partners.
Skilled at crafting and delivering presentations.
Experience, knowledge or skills in organizational development or organizational effectiveness is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams; experience with other project management tools a plus. Education Requirements : Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in related field preferred.
HR or DEI-related certification is a plus. Experience : Minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience supporting and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.
May include HR business partner or recruitment management responsibilities with specific focus in DEI programs, with at least 6 years of experience in a role directly focused on DEI work.
Experience guiding employee resources groups is a plus.
Experience in a professional services, research, or academia environment is a plus, as is experience working with highly educated analytical, technical, or knowledge-based workforces. Location : Santa Monica, CA; this position is open to a hybrid (onsite/remote) work arrangement. Salary Range : $100,100 - $152,400 RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity.The salary range includes base pay plus RAND's sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken). In addition, RAND provides strong benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid time-off and more.
